About Modena in Fiore

Every spring, the heart of Modena transforms into a large open-air garden: Modena in Fiore brings together floriculturists from all over Italy in Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Roma, Via del Taglio, Largo San Giorgio, and Piazza Pomposa. Over 160 exhibitors, more than 4,000 types of plants and flowers, quality crafts, and food stalls animate two days of scents, colours, and passion for gardening in the historic centre of the Emilian city. Free admission.

A Spring Blooming in the Historic Centre

When spring arrives, Modena's historic centre changes its appearance: the most elegant squares and streets of the Emilian capital fill with colours and scents thanks to Modena in Fiore, the large flower and nursery market that has been attracting gardening enthusiasts, curious visitors, and families for over twenty years. For an entire weekend, the urban furniture is literally transformed by hundreds of varieties of plants and flowers, turning the city's living room into a true open-air garden centre.

Where it Takes Place

The event's green itinerary winds through the heart of Modena, in the capital municipality of the Province of the same name, in Emilia-Romagna. The exhibitors are set up along five stops in the historic centre:

  • Piazza Matteotti
  • Piazza Roma
  • Via del Taglio
  • Largo San Giorgio
  • Piazza Pomposa

A pedestrian route that allows you to stroll among the stalls just a short walk from the city's symbolic monuments, from the Romanesque Cathedral to the UNESCO World Heritage Ghirlandina.

What You Can Find

The absolute protagonists are the floriculturists from numerous Italian regions, who offer over 4,000 types of plants: garden trees and shrubs, indoor and balcony plants, herbs, spring bulbs, up to tropical, exotic, and carnivorous species. Roses, azaleas, geraniums, camellias, primroses, freesias, lilies, and fruit trees are also available. Alongside the flower and nursery exhibition, there is also space for quality craftsโ€”terracotta pots, wooden tools, garden objectsโ€”and food stalls with typical local products.

Side Events

Piazza Pomposa hosts two initiatives that enrich the event: Bio Pomposa, the organic food market, and Ultra Market, dedicated to artistic crafts and vintage items. An additional opportunity to discover local producers and creatives from the Modena area.

An Anticipated Event

Modena in Fiore is now a fixed event on the city's spring calendar, managing to sell out exhibition spaces weeks in advance every year. With free admission and its location in the historic centre, it is the ideal opportunity to combine a city stroll with the purchase of plants and flowers for gardens, terraces, and balconies.
