The flower and nursery market that colours Modena's historic centre
When spring arrives, Modena's historic centre changes its appearance: the most elegant squares and streets of the Emilian capital fill with colours and scents thanks to Modena in Fiore, the large flower and nursery market that has been attracting gardening enthusiasts, curious visitors, and families for over twenty years. For an entire weekend, the urban furniture is literally transformed by hundreds of varieties of plants and flowers, turning the city's living room into a true open-air garden centre.
The event's green itinerary winds through the heart of Modena, in the capital municipality of the Province of the same name, in Emilia-Romagna. The exhibitors are set up along five stops in the historic centre:
A pedestrian route that allows you to stroll among the stalls just a short walk from the city's symbolic monuments, from the Romanesque Cathedral to the UNESCO World Heritage Ghirlandina.
The absolute protagonists are the floriculturists from numerous Italian regions, who offer over 4,000 types of plants: garden trees and shrubs, indoor and balcony plants, herbs, spring bulbs, up to tropical, exotic, and carnivorous species. Roses, azaleas, geraniums, camellias, primroses, freesias, lilies, and fruit trees are also available. Alongside the flower and nursery exhibition, there is also space for quality craftsโterracotta pots, wooden tools, garden objectsโand food stalls with typical local products.
Piazza Pomposa hosts two initiatives that enrich the event: Bio Pomposa, the organic food market, and Ultra Market, dedicated to artistic crafts and vintage items. An additional opportunity to discover local producers and creatives from the Modena area.
Modena in Fiore is now a fixed event on the city's spring calendar, managing to sell out exhibition spaces weeks in advance every year. With free admission and its location in the historic centre, it is the ideal opportunity to combine a city stroll with the purchase of plants and flowers for gardens, terraces, and balconies.
For its spring 2026 edition, Modena in Fiore confirmed its status as the most anticipated event on the city's horticultural calendar, with exhibition spaces sold out weeks in advance.
Over 160 exhibitors from numerous Italian regions offered an exceptional assortment: garden trees and shrubs, indoor and balcony plants, herbs, spring bulbs, and tropical, exotic, and carnivorous species, totaling over 4,000 types. Alongside flowers, there were quality crafts and food stalls. Piazza Pomposa hosted the side events Bio Pomposa (Saturday) and Ultra Market (Sunday).
Throughout the route: over 4,000 types of plants and flowers, quality crafts (terracotta pots, wooden tools), and food stalls.
