Minitheatre – Great Theatre for Little Spectators is a festival dedicated to children's theatre, taking place in Rome, within the Municipio XIII (Aurelio) district in the Lazio region. The project is conceived and managed by the social promotion association Le Chat Noir A.P.S., a Rome-based organization active in theatrical and audiovisual production and cultural festival planning.

A project supported by Roma Capitale

Minitheatre was born under the Roma Creativa 365 – Culture all year round initiative, a major program through which Roma Capitale supports widespread cultural programming across all city districts throughout the year, aiming to move beyond seasonal event cycles. The project was selected under subsection 1/A – Live Performance of the relevant public call, scoring 70 out of 100.

What the festival offers

The festival brings theatre tailored for children to the stage: plays, fairy tales, and stories that speak to kids and families using a simple, poetic, and engaging language. The goal is to bring new generations closer to live theatre, offering an accessible and high-quality cultural experience even in neighborhoods far from the historic center.

Le Chat Noir A.P.S.

Behind Minitheatre is Le Chat Noir, a Roman association that has worked for years at the intersection of tradition and innovation, with theatrical and audiovisual productions aimed at an intergenerational audience. Their work for young audiences includes intercultural storytelling projects and plays based on classic fairy tales, performed in theatres and cultural venues across the Lazio region.

Widespread theatre in Municipio XIII

The heart of the festival is Rome's Municipio XIII, which includes the Aurelio district: a populous residential area in the west of the city where Minitheatre helps provide local cultural offerings. The programming, distributed throughout the year, aims to build a stable cultural appointment for local families.
