About Milazzo Classica

Milazzo Classica is a chamber music series that brings the Teatro Trifiletti in Milazzo, in the Province of Messina, to life every winter. Conceived by musicians Roberto Metro and Elvira Foti with the patronage of the Municipality, it offers ten Friday evening concerts ranging from tango to jazz, from Neapolitan songs to film soundtracks, and from classical repertoire to the most surprising musical fusions. It is a highly anticipated event for the local public, featuring artists of national and international caliber.

A season of music in the heart of Milazzo

Milazzo Classica is a concert series that, every year between January and May, transforms the Teatro Trifiletti in Milazzo into a musical salon dedicated to chamber music and its infinite variations. The event, conceived and curated by local musicians Roberto Metro and Elvira Foti, a world-renowned concert pianist, is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Milazzo and in collaboration with the "Milazzo 2010" Theater Company.

Ten Fridays of concerts

The program consists of ten events, all held on Fridays starting at 8:30 PM. The format is a musical journey that crosses different genres, eras, and geographies: the audience experiences everything from Argentine tango to Mediterranean jazz, from Neapolitan songs to Hollywood and Cinecittà soundtracks, and from great singer-songwriter classics to solo piano performances. It is a deliberately eclectic program designed to introduce classical music to those who do not usually frequent concert halls.

Artists and ensembles

The Trifiletti stage hosts quartets, trios, quintets, and soloists: from the Quartetto Fancelli to the Faber Quartet, from the Trio Virtuoso to the Quartetto Saverio Mercadante, and from the Latin Jazz Quartet to The Crew Quintet, with Foti and Metro themselves performing refined four-hand piano programs. Numerous tributes and homages have marked the various editions, ranging from Fabrizio De André to the "Dolce Vita" of the fifties and sixties.

A series for schools too

Milazzo Classica is not just an evening season: the event is connected to the world of education through morning concert-lectures, where artists engage in informal dialogues with students to bring them closer to music and art. This educational aspect is highly appreciated by school principals, making it a well-rounded cultural event for the city.

Milazzo, the pearl of the Tyrrhenian

The series is part of the rich cultural landscape of Milazzo, a town in the Province of Messina overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, famous for its Castle, the old town, and the evocative Capo Milazzo peninsula, the gateway to the Aeolian Islands. Attending a Milazzo Classica concert means combining a passion for music with the discovery of one of the most fascinating places in north-eastern Sicily.

Milazzo Classica — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Milazzo Classica featured ten Friday concerts at the Teatro Trifiletti, from late January to May 8th. A varied program including tango, tributes to singer-songwriters, film soundtracks, Neapolitan songs, Latin jazz, and piano recitals, featuring prestigious ensembles and the four-hand piano programs of the founders, Foti and Metro.
