Milan becomes an open-air set
The Milano Film Fest transforms Milan (Municipality of Milan, Lombardy) into a large open-air set. The second edition takes place from June 4 to 9, 2026, under the artistic direction of actor Claudio Santamaria, in his second year at the helm of the festival.
A cinema district
The heart of the event is the cinema district located between the Piccolo Teatro Strehler and the Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, this year expanded to also include Casa degli Artisti and Casa di Quartiere Garibaldi. An urban geography that intertwines theaters, stages, and public spaces.
Over 120 films and great guests
The program features over 120 films, including premieres and Italian and international titles, alongside masterclasses and free screenings in the neighborhoods. The guest of honor is American director and artist Julian Schnabel, who presents his latest film In the Hand of Dante and holds a masterclass with Valeria Golino.
Cinema, words, and music
The lecture series What is Cinema involves Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, directors Giorgio Diritti and Maurizio Nichetti, and journalist and podcaster Pablo Trincia. Every evening, on the steps of the Piccolo Teatro, live music performances are scheduled, creating a festival that fosters dialogue between cinema, words, and sounds in the heart of Milan.
Milano Film Fest — edition 2026
The Milano Film Fest 2026 (second edition) runs from June 4 to 9, directed by Claudio Santamaria. Over 120 films, premieres, Italian and international guests, masterclasses, and free screenings in the neighborhoods animate the cinema district between Piccolo Teatro Strehler, Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, Casa degli Artisti, and Casa di Quartiere Garibaldi. Director Julian Schnabel is the guest of honor.
