MIC Fest – Music in the Castle (Pallavicino Castle, Pellegrino Parmense)

A festival that makes castles sing

MIC Fest – Music in the Castle is the major summer event that for over twenty years has combined live music, theater, and historic sites in the Emilia and Po Valley region. Born as a local initiative, in 2026 the event celebrates its XXIII edition and presents itself as a distributed, multidisciplinary festival: 48 events, 68 Italian and international artists, 38 municipalities, and 8 provinces (Parma, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Cremona, Mantua, Massa Carrara, and La Spezia), all with free admission. The artistic direction is by Enrico Grignaffini, who has made the dialogue between artists and historic spaces the distinctive feature of the project.

The stop in Pellegrino Parmense, in the Apennines

Among the most evocative venues on the program is the Garden of the Pallavicino Castle, in the Municipality of Pellegrino Parmense, in the Province of Parma, a village in the Parma Apennines overlooking the Ceno Valley. The castle, an ancient stronghold of the Pallavicini family overlooking the town, offers an intimate and suggestive setting for open-air music. Here, MIC Fest brings one of the most energetic concerts of the entire 2026 season.

The Vandoliers, the rebellious soul of Texas

The Pellegrino Parmense evening is entrusted to The Vandoliers, a group from Texas considered one of the most explosive bands on the new American alternative country scene. Their sound blends country, punk, folk, and roots rock with a rebellious attitude and great emotional intensity: their concerts are true collective experiences, more than simple performances. A bold, unconventional choice that confirms the festival's commitment to combining tradition and contemporaneity.

Not just Pellegrino: a distributed program

The strength of MIC Fest lies in its variety: from June 12 to September 11, the festival hosts jazz, swing, classical music, song-theater, storytelling, dance, and singer-songwriter music. Among the announced guests for the entire series are names like Alan Clark (Dire Straits' keyboardist), Giuliano Palma, Stefano Bollani with Valentina Cenni, Fabrizio Bosso, the Shai Maestro Quartet, and the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra. Part of the initiatives support fundraising for Emergency.
