About Wild Boar Festival

During the Christmas season, between Christmas and New Year's, the small village of Mezzomonte—a rural hamlet on the border between Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo, nestled at the foot of the Circeo promontory—comes alive with the Wild Boar Festival. For two days, from morning until midnight, food and wine stalls offer dishes based on wild boar prepared according to traditional Pontine recipes, accompanied by local wines and beers, live music, and DJ sets. An authentic community celebration, born from the commitment of local volunteers, which attracts visitors from across the province of Latina.

A winter festival at the foot of Circeo

While most festivals in the Lazio region crowd the summer and autumn calendars, the Mezzomonte Wild Boar Festival has chosen the heart of winter: the weekend between Christmas and New Year's. The stage is the village of Mezzomonte, a small rural locality nestled on the border between the municipalities of Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo, in the province of Latina, within the territory of the Circeo National Park. For the occasion, the village 'dresses for winter': Piazza Mezzomonte fills with stalls, the aromas of cooking, and music, as the community opens its doors to visitors from all over southern Lazio.

Wild boar, the star of the Pontine table

The heart of the event is the food and wine stalls, open from 10:30 AM until midnight. On the menu are wild boar dishes prepared 'with mastery' by volunteers according to local traditional recipes, along with other typical products of the Pontine territory. Accompanying everything is a selection of wines and beers that completes an offering designed for lunch, snacks, and dinner: the festival runs continuously from late morning until night.

Live music and DJ sets in the square

Alongside the gastronomy, the program alternates between live music and entertainment. In the 2024 edition, the square hosted DJ sets by Manuel Attardo, Jacopo Di Maggio, and Fabio Cavalieri, and an evening concert by the group La Stramma; in 2025, Saturday night was dedicated to the greatest hits of Italian live music, while Sunday featured the 'Sotto le Stelle' show with Matteo Tortora, followed by a DJ set by Gianluca Grandi. A mix of popular celebration and dance party that extends the festival well past dinner time.

A community celebration between two municipalities

The festival is organized by the spontaneous committee 'Uniti si può', representing the village residents, with the patronage of the Municipality of Sabaudia, the Municipality of San Felice Circeo, and their respective Pro Loco associations. The event is included in the official calendar of Christmas events in Sabaudia and is also promoted by the Circeo National Park Authority: a rare example of a festival that unites two neighboring communities around the same square.

An opportunity to discover Circeo in winter

Attending the festival is also a great excuse to visit the Circeo National Park in its quietest season: the Circeo promontory, the coastal dunes, Lake Paola, and the rationalist center of Sabaudia are just a few minutes away by car. In the landscape of festivals in the Lazio region, the Mezzomonte event remains one of the few winter opportunities to enjoy wild boar in an authentically rustic setting, far from the most beaten tourist paths.

Wild Boar Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Mezzomonte Wild Boar Festival has not yet been officially announced. The event traditionally takes place on the weekend between Christmas and New Year's—in 2025 it was held on December 27 and 28—and the dates are communicated by the organizing committee only close to the holidays, along with the Christmas calendar of the Municipality of Sabaudia. Pending confirmation, the format remains the established one: two days of food and wine stalls, live music, and DJ sets in Piazza Mezzomonte.

For the 2026 edition of the Mezzomonte Wild Boar Festival, no official dates have been published yet: as per tradition, the announcement arrives at the end of the year with the Christmas holiday calendar of Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo. Based on previous editions, the festival should take place on the weekend between Christmas and New Year's, with food and wine stalls open from 10:30 AM until midnight, wild boar dishes, local wines and beers, and musical entertainment in the square. We will update this page as soon as the 'Uniti si può' committee announces the dates and program.
