About MetJazz

MetJazz is the historic jazz festival held at the Teatro Metastasio in Prato, Tuscany, reaching its 31st edition in 2026. From late winter to early spring, it brings major international and Italian names to Prato's stages, featuring concerts, film screenings, and talks that weave together the great jazz tradition with its most contemporary and experimental expressions.

MetJazz, jazz at home in the Metastasio

Born in 1995 in the heart of the Teatro Metastasio, MetJazz is one of the longest-running and most acclaimed jazz festivals in Tuscany. Every year, between February and March, the Prato theatre becomes a landmark for genre enthusiasts, alternating major international headliners with the most compelling Italian talents in a program that looks as much to tradition as it does to the avant-garde.

The festival takes place in the Municipality of Prato, in the Province of Prato, and utilizes various city venues: the main hall of the Teatro Metastasio, the more experimental Teatro Fabbricone, and the Giuseppe Verdi School of Music. This network of spaces allows for a wide variety of formats, from grand evening concerts to more intimate, research-driven projects.

A new artistic direction

2026 marks a significant turning point for the festival: after thirty years of curation by Stefano Zenni, the artistic direction passes into the hands of Enrico Romero and Giuseppe Vigna, who are launching a new season dedicated to the dialogue between the roots of jazz and its most recent evolutions.

A festival of concerts, cinema, and meetings

MetJazz is more than just live music. Alongside the concert lineup, the METJazz Off section offers a packed schedule of film screenings, meetings, and conferences, designed to explore jazz through cinema, words, and history. It is an opportunity to delve into the cultural universe surrounding this music, in a journey that involves the entire city.

An unmissable event for Tuscany

For jazz lovers, MetJazz is an unmissable highlight of the Tuscan scene: a festival capable of bringing world-renowned musicians to Prato while maintaining a constant focus on research and contemporary languages. An experience that combines the quality of a grand theatre setting with the energy and unpredictability of live jazz.

MetJazz — edition 2026
