About Festival delle Colline

The Festival delle Colline is one of Tuscany's longest-running singer-songwriter music festivals, promoted by the Municipality of Poggio a Caiano in collaboration with the municipalities of Prato and Carmignano. Every summer, it brings refined concerts to the most evocative spots in the Prato area, with Poggio a Caiano remaining the heart of the event: here, in the shadow of the Medici Villa, the most anticipated evenings of the program come to life. Featuring Italian singer-songwriters, international projects, and unique reinterpretations, it is an intimate, high-quality event designed for those seeking attentive listening away from large-scale mass gatherings.

A historic festival in the heart of the Prato area

The Festival delle Colline is one of Tuscany's longest-running singer-songwriter music festivals. Established in the late 1970s, it is promoted by the Municipality of Poggio a Caiano, in the Province of Prato, in collaboration with the municipalities of Prato and Carmignano. The artistic direction is entrusted to Gianni Bianchi, while the organization is managed by laCoz srls. The festival has always focused on high-quality programming, blending big names of the Italian music scene, international projects, and emerging artists, always in dialogue with the historic sites that host them: villas, churches, libraries, and fortifications of the Montalbano hilly landscape.

Poggio a Caiano, home of the festival

Poggio a Caiano is the municipality that hosts the event. Famous for its Medici Villa, a Renaissance masterpiece commissioned by Lorenzo the Magnificent and now a UNESCO World Heritage site, the village is located just a few kilometers from Prato and Florence, nestled among the hills and vineyards of Montalbano. This is where the festival's most deep-rooted evenings take place: from the solemn setting of the Medici Villa to more intimate spaces like the loggia of the Church of Santa Cristina in Pilli and Piazza SS. Rosario, every concert becomes an opportunity to experience music within history.

What makes the festival special

  • Singer-songwriter programming: original songwriting, acoustic projects, and contemporary influences, carefully selected by the artistic direction.
  • Unique locations: the Medici Villa, historic churches, and village squares become evocative stages.
  • Intimate atmosphere: cozy evenings, attentive listening, and an atmosphere far removed from large commercial festivals.
  • Free and ticketed concerts: part of the program is free to attend, while other evenings have an affordable ticket price.

The territory

An evening at the Festival delle Colline is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Tuscany. In addition to the Medici Villa in Poggio a Caiano, the Montalbano area preserves villages, parish churches, and vineyards, including those of the famous Carmignano DOCG wine. Music, history, and landscape merge in a festival that, edition after edition, has become an unmissable event of the Prato cultural summer.
