The night of pianos in the historic center of Mesagne
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Mesagne Piano Night is one of the most original musical initiatives in the Salento summer: for one night only, the historic center of Mesagne, in the province of Brindisi, transforms into an immense, widespread stage entirely dedicated to the piano. Squares, courtyards, open spaces, and alleys of the Messapian town host dozens of pianos where musicians of all ages and backgrounds take turns, creating a musical promenade that envelops the entire ancient center.
The hallmark of the event is its deeply participatory spirit. Alongside established concert performers, music school students, young talents, and enthusiastic amateurs perform: the most recent edition featured about 60 pianists, ranging in age from 5 to 70. Repertoires intertwine along the streets, spanning from classical music to jazz, and from pop to contemporary, offering the public a soundscape that changes at every corner.
The evening culminates in a major closing concert in Piazza Orsini del Balzo, in the shadow of the castle that dominates the historic center, featuring a nationally renowned guest. The format thus combines the popular, widespread nature of the performances in the squares with a high-profile spectacular moment, capable of attracting a large audience from all over Puglia.
The festival is curated by the APS LABS association and is supported by the Municipality of Mesagne and Puglia Culture. Launched in 2024, the event has quickly won over residents and visitors alike, enhancing the atmosphere of the ancient village and its cultural vocation. Admission is completely free, in keeping with the inclusive spirit of the event, and registration for pianists is open to anyone who wishes to participate.
At the heart of the Messapian Puglia, Mesagne is an elegant village with a star-shaped historic center, dominated by the Norman-Swabian Castle and crisscrossed by whitewashed alleys. Experiencing a night of music here means immersing yourself in a setting of great charm, amidst Baroque architecture, historic churches, and lively squares, just a few kilometers from Brindisi and the Salento coast.
