The Memorial Correale is one of the longest-running and most highly regarded collecting events in the province of Naples. Hosted in Castellammare di Stabia, Campania, the event attracts dealers, experts, and enthusiasts from every region of Italy with each edition. Over two days, the exhibition halls transform into a grand cultural marketplace where visitors can admire, purchase, and trade rare pieces and curiosities from every era.
The heart of the fair lies in numismatics and philately: ancient and modern coins, medals, banknotes, and stamps are the undisputed stars of the exhibition tables. Alongside these traditional sectors, other areas of collecting are represented, making the event appealing to a wide audience.
The event was established in 1994 and named Memorial Correale in honor of Salvatore Correale, a key figure in the local collecting scene and a respected scholar, particularly noted for his work on Neapolitan coinage. Over the years, the event has become a fixture on the calendar, with multiple editions held annually (typically in June and autumn), serving as a vital cultural touchstone for enthusiasts in the South.
The town of Castellammare di Stabia, overlooking the Gulf of Naples and famous for its thermal waters and ancient history, provides an ideal backdrop for an event dedicated to memory and a passion for the past. Its proximity to Naples, Pompeii, and the Sorrento Peninsula makes it a delightful destination for those wishing to combine the fair with a visit to Campania's rich heritage.
Beyond buying and selling, the Memorial Correale is above all an opportunity for collectors to meet: information is exchanged, discoveries are compared, and lasting friendships are formed. Admission is free, and visitors are often offered complimentary specialized magazines, reflecting the spirit of sharing that drives the Circolo Tempo Libero Association, the event's organizer.
