The melon and agricultural festival in the village of Due Casette, Cerveteri
The Melon Festival and Agricultural Fair brings the small village of Due Casette to life every July, nestled in the countryside of Cerveteri, in the province of Rome, Lazio. For an entire weekend, the farming community gathers around the fruit that symbolizes these landsโthe melonโin a celebration that weaves together gastronomy, agricultural heritage, and popular entertainment, with free admission to all evening events.
The festival has deep roots in the local agricultural history: until the 1980s, it was one of the most anticipated events in the area, drawing hundreds of people among the rows and farmyards of Due Casette. After nearly forty years of silence, the event has been brought back to life thanks to the efforts of the local Pro Loco and the collaboration with the Municipality of Cerveteri, restoring a deeply felt identity-driven festival to Due Casette that now welcomes thousands of visitors.
The heart of the festival is naturally the melon of the Cerveteri territory, sweet and fragrant, offered at the stalls alongside local products and regional food and wine pairings. Alongside the gastronomic offerings, the Agricultural Fair showcases the productive face of this countryside: displays of agricultural machinery, spaces dedicated to local producers, markets, and craft stalls. It is an opportunity to rediscover the bond between Cerveteri and its land, between its farming vocation and genuine flavors.
Every evening, the festival lights up with musical performances, comedy, and entertainment designed for families and children, including games and activities. The evenings feature a mix of bands, dance orchestras, tributes to Italian music, and guest performers, in a convivial atmosphere that brings different generations together. The formula, simple and genuine, is that of the great village festivals: good food, good music, and the desire to be together under the summer stars.
The Melon Festival and Agricultural Fair is part of the Estate Caerite program, the summer festival promoted by the Municipality of Cerveteri that brings concerts, shows, children's activities, and free-entry festivals to various locations in the area. For those visiting Cerveteri, world-famous for its UNESCO-listed Etruscan necropolis, the Due Casette festival is the ideal opportunity to discover the most authentic and rural side of this corner of Lazio.
The Melon Festival and Agricultural Fair returns to Due Casette in Cerveteri from July 17 to 19, 2026, confirming its status as one of the most anticipated events of the summer in the Cerveteri territory. The event opens on Friday, July 17, and continues on Saturday, July 18 (from 10:00 AM) and Sunday, July 19, as part of the Estate Caerite 2026 program promoted by the Municipality of Cerveteri, with free admission.
Once again this year, the festival brings together the best of the farming tradition of Due Casette: food and local product stalls, the Agricultural Fair with its display of agricultural machinery, markets, children's games, and evenings of music and entertainment.
The festival is held in the village of Due Casette, in the countryside of Cerveteri (RM), a few kilometers from the town center.
