The fried focaccette of the hillside hamlet of Recco
In Megli, a hillside hamlet of Recco in the Metropolitan City of Genoa, the Focaccette Festival is a tradition that has been renewed for decades. The stars are the fried focaccette, small golden and crispy discs of dough, a specialty of Ligurian popular gastronomy that is celebrated here with pride.
The festival opens on Easter Monday, with a mass dedicated to collaborators, distribution of focaccia col formaggio, music from an orchestra, and a tombola (bingo game), then continues the following weekend with food stalls. Among the initiatives, the non-competitive children's walk "Carica dei 101" stands out, enlivening the hamlet with games and fun.
The Focaccette Festival is above all a community celebration, capable of attracting residents and visitors from the coast to Megli. To facilitate access to the hillside hamlet, a free shuttle service from Recco is available, connecting the center to the village during the event days.
