A celebration of workers through art, music, and flavors in Piazza De Gasperi
Every May 1st, the town of Cesa, in the province of Caserta, turns Piazza De Gasperi into the beating heart of its Labor Day celebrations. The initiative, promoted by the municipal administration under the title "Labor Day: Art, Music, and Flavors," combines the civic significance of the holiday with a vibrant popular festival, open to the entire community and visitors from across Campania.
The day begins in the morning with a moment of reflection: a holy mass at the "San Giuseppe e San Vincenzo" church, located at the municipal cemetery, accompanied by the laying of a wreath in memory of those who died in workplace accidents. This is how Cesa honors the profound meaning of May Day, dedicated to human dignity and workers' rights, before the square lights up for the evening festivities.
From 7 PM until midnight, Piazza De Gasperi hosts a rich program of musical performances. The artistic direction features a lineup designed to appeal to diverse audiences, from young people to families, with a repertoire spanning pop, dance, and Neapolitan music. The evening features a mix of DJ sets, live performances, and artists beloved by the Campania public, creating a shared experience of joy and celebration.
Alongside the music, a spacious food area offers tastings of typical Neapolitan dishes, featuring authentic specialties like sausage and friarielli. The combination of great music and delicious food makes the May Day Festival in Cesa a convivial occasion that strengthens the town's sense of belonging and highlights local artistic and community talents.
The event is free to attend and welcomes a wide audience, from Cesa residents to visitors from the surrounding Agro Aversano area. Within the landscape of May Day events in Campania, the Cesa festival stands out for its grassroots, popular, and participatory character, where the celebration of workers becomes a festival for the entire city.
