The flower and plant market exhibition that welcomes spring in Marina di Pietrasanta
When the first weekend of May arrives, Marina di Pietrasanta puts on its best attire. In the Tonfano district, located in the heart of Versilia in the province of Lucca, Marina in Fiore takes center stage. This market exhibition dedicated to flowers, plants, and gardening has long symbolized the start of the summer season in Versilia. It is a highly anticipated event, not only for gardening enthusiasts but for anyone wishing to spend a day outdoors surrounded by colors, scents, and the sound of the sea.
The heart of the event is the grand exhibition: over a hundred vendors from Tuscany and other Italian regions bring the squares and streets of Marina di Pietrasanta to life. Among the stalls, you will find potted flowers, aromatic and ornamental plants, bonsai, dried and artificial flowers, as well as garden furniture and accessories, gardening tools, wrought iron and wooden decorations, herbal products, natural cosmetics, and publications on floriculture.
The fair is spread across several areas of the town center: Piazza XXIV Maggio, featuring the new Agorร space, hosts plants and garden furniture alongside Via Versilia and Piazzetta Amadei; Via Carducci and Via Donizetti are dedicated to handicrafts and handmade creations; and Via da Vinci hosts the food area. The promenade extends all the way to the famous Tonfano Pier, overlooking the sea.
Alongside the floriculture, Marina in Fiore offers quality gourmet products, a street food area, and entertainment. In recent years, the fair has been enhanced by "Tonfano Mangiami," a food and wine event that blends cuisine, live music, and culture, helping to make the festival a true driver for promoting the Versilia region.
Organized by Promozione Turistica Versilia on behalf of the Municipality of Pietrasanta, Marina in Fiore offers free admission and is suitable for all ages. It is the perfect opportunity to buy seasonal plants, discover local crafts, and breathe in the first air of summer on one of the most beloved stretches of the Tuscan coast.
The 2026 edition of Marina in Fiore confirmed the event's great appeal: spaces were sold out for weeks, and over a hundred exhibitors from across Italy filled Marina di Pietrasanta. The novelty of the year was the extension of the stalls to the new Agorร space in Piazza XXIV Maggio, alongside the historic areas of Via Versilia and Piazzetta Amadei.
The second edition of "Tonfano Mangiami" was also confirmed, the food and wine event curated by Gnam Art Food Music that combined cuisine, music, and culture along Via da Vinci.
By car: take the Versilia exit on the A11/A12 motorway, then follow signs for Marina di Pietrasanta-Tonfano. By train: Pietrasanta station on the Tyrrhenian line, then take a bus or taxi to the marina. The fair area is pedestrianized and centers around Piazza XXIV Maggio and the Tonfano Pier.
The event is usually open from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM throughout the days. Admission is free.
Arrive in the morning to stroll through the stalls at your leisure and avoid the afternoon crowds. Bring a sturdy bag if you plan on buying plants. The area is well-served by beach clubs, bars, and restaurants for a seaside break.
