The patronal feast of Casamarciano, blending faith, tradition, and spectacular entertainment
Every year, at the start of summer, Casamarciano gathers around its protector, Maria SS. delle Grazie, for one of the most heartfelt celebrations in the Nola area. This small town in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania, experiences its most awaited moment of the year in early July, when faith, folk tradition, and entertainment intertwine along the streets and squares of the town.
Devotion to the Madonna delle Grazie, whose liturgical feast falls on July 2nd, is deeply rooted in the rural and religious culture of the Casamarciano community, which has always cherished its customs. The festival is organized by the Festival Committee in collaboration with the Municipal Administration, ensuring a program that balances devotional moments with entertainment for all ages.
Among the most evocative highlights is the ancient tradition of the Neapolitan School of Madonnari: in the setting of Piazza Monumento, artists transform the asphalt into true open-air sacred canvases, bringing images of the Virgin to life with colored chalk. The evenings are accompanied by artistic illuminations, whose lighting ceremony becomes a small spectacle that brightens the town center, creating the classic atmosphere of Southern patronal feasts.
The program alternates between different genres and styles. There is no shortage of cabaret and comedy shows featuring artists from the Neapolitan scene, and musical performances ranging from Neapolitan tradition to the grand brass band concert, an authentic symbol of Southern folk festivals. The event closes each year with a major concert that fills the squares and engages thousands of residents and visitors from neighboring towns.
Beyond the artistic lineup, the Maria SS. delle Grazie Festival is above all an opportunity for the entire Casamarciano community to meet. Families flock to the squares, groups reunite, and the town experiences days of sharing that renew the bond between generations. It is the authentic soul of Campanian patronal feasts, where religious and social dimensions coexist in perfect harmony.
An unmissable event for those wishing to experience authentic popular devotion and the warm welcome of Campania.
The Festival Committee and the Municipal Administration of Casamarciano approved a program for 2026 that enlivened the town from June 30 to July 4, combining devotion, folk tradition, and live entertainment. Five intense evenings, culminating in a concert by a well-known Italian pop-rap group in Piazza Monumento.
Casamarciano is located in the Nola hinterland, about 30 km northeast of Naples. By car, it is accessible via the A16 motorway (Nola exit) or the SS7bis road. By train, the Circumvesuviana station in Nola is the closest, with bus connections to Casamarciano.
All festival shows and initiatives are free to attend.
Events mainly take place in Piazza Monumento and Piazza Umberto I, in the town center.
