A farmhouse that creates culture

Mare per i Quartieri is the summer programme of Mare Culturale Urbano, an urban regeneration project centred on Cascina Torrette (via Quinto Cenni 11, San Siro area, Municipality 6, City of Milan, Lombardy). The farmhouse, recovered and transformed into a hybrid cultural centre, houses a restaurant, bar, a covered piazza, and multifunctional spaces, and has become a reference point for the western part of the city.

A summer of widespread events

The review enlivens the warm season with a dense and varied programme. In June, the calendar features theatre performances, open-air film series (such as the "Cinemare" programme), social workshops, and events designed for an intergenerational audience. Among the most characteristic events are "Il salotto con balera per i diversamente giovani" with Claudio Merli, which brings the tradition of popular dancing to the farmhouse, and the "Parole e punti" workshops, dedicated to social knitting.

Culture and social impact

Mare Culturale Urbano defines itself as a space dedicated to urban regeneration and the creation of social impact, functioning as a hybrid artistic production centre with job placement pathways for local youth. Mare per i Quartieri is its summer expression: accessible culture, largely free, rooted in the neighbourhoods and attentive to the local communities in the western part of Milan.
