Theatre under the stars, every Saturday evening in the square in Corsico
Born in 2023 and now a stable fixture in the cultural calendar of Corsico, in the Metropolitan City of Milan, Corsico a Scena Aperta is the festival that transforms the space in Via Cavour, in front of the scenic Fontana dell'Incontro, into an open-air theatre every Saturday evening. The idea is simple and successful: to bring performances out of the theatres and into the midst of the people, with free admission, to restore the square's function as a meeting place on summer evenings.
The beauty of the festival lies in its variety. Within a few weeks, it moves from ballet to musical storytelling, from musicals to cabaret, from opera to stand-up comedy. Renowned companies and artists from the Lombard and national scene take turns on stage: the Balletto di Milano, Teatro Impiria, Comteatro, actors such as Annagaia Marchioro and Daniela Baldassarra, as well as concerts retracing the great Italian singer-songwriter tradition. Each evening lasts just under two hours and begins at 9:00 PM, the perfect time to enjoy the performance in the cool of the evening.
Admission is always free: this is a deliberate choice by the Municipality of Corsico, which organises the festival in collaboration with local organisations to introduce theatre to those who do not normally attend performances. Families with children, prose enthusiasts, passers-by in the square: everyone finds something suitable here. In case of bad weather, performances are rescheduled or moved indoors.
Edition after edition, Corsico a Scena Aperta has become one of the most anticipated events of the Corsico summer, part of a multi-year municipal cultural programme. For those living along the Naviglio Grande, it is an opportunity to rediscover their city as a widespread stage, in a format that combines artistic quality and a popular festive atmosphere.
For 2026, the Municipality of Corsico is once again presenting Corsico a Scena Aperta, the open-air theatre festival that enlivens Via Cavour every Saturday evening. The formula remains the tried and tested one: evening performances starting at 9:00 PM, free admission, and a multidisciplinary programme alternating prose, dance, musicals, opera, and comedy.
The detailed schedule and the titles of the performances will be announced by the Municipality in the spring via the institutional website and social media channels. The festival is part of the city's multi-year cultural programming, confirming its continuity.
