About Marcialonga Running

The Marcialonga Running Coop is a road race that follows the iconic route of the famous cross-country skiing granfondo between the Fassa and Fiemme Valleys in Trentino. Runners start in Moena and head towards Cavalese, choosing between two distances: a 21.097 km half-marathon and a 26.5 km course, passing through the towns and landmarks synonymous with the Marcialonga. This late-summer sporting event blends competitive racing, breathtaking Dolomite landscapes, and a spirit of solidarity through its charity relay program.

The race that follows in the footsteps of the Marcialonga

The Marcialonga Running Coop is the summer road-running version of the legendary Marcialonga triptych, which also includes the cross-country skiing granfondo (January) and the Marcialonga Cycling Craft (June). Every first week of September, the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys, in the heart of the Trentino Dolomites, transform into a stage for a race that largely retraces the historic route of the cross-country ski event, established over fifty years ago. The start is set in the center of Moena, with the finish line in Cavalese, the heart of the Val di Fiemme, in the municipality of the same name in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige).

Two distances through the valley towns

The race offers two courses. The half-marathon (21.097 km) starts in Moena and finishes in Masi di Cavalese. The long distance (26.5 km) continues to the center of Cavalese, featuring a final climb in the last five kilometers that makes for a challenging finish. The route passes by the Stalimen ski jumping stadium, the towns of Predazzo, Ziano, and Panchià along the cycle path, and the cross-country skiing center of Lago di Tesero—all places dear to the valleys' Nordic traditions.

Relays, solidarity, and special trophies

In addition to individual races, the Marcialonga Running Coop can also be run as a relay: teams of three (men's, women's, or mixed) divide the course into legs, donating part of their entry fee to a charity through the Charity Program. The calendar also includes dedicated trophies, such as the Coop Running Trophy reserved for cooperative members and administrators, and the Run Ex Alto Trophy for armed forces personnel, alongside the non-competitive Minirunning for children. The race is surrounded by a rich array of events: the Running Expo Village in Moena, a pasta party, award ceremonies, and live music.

A late-summer date in the heart of the Dolomites

The event, reaching its twenty-fourth edition in 2026, attracts over 1,500 participants every year, ranging from elite athletes to passionate amateurs. It is a unique opportunity to experience outdoor sports in one of the most picturesque settings in Trentino, where the Dolomite mountains provide the backdrop for a sporting tradition that unites winter and summer.
