The folklore of Valtellina di Morbegno
The Mandamentale Review of Traditional Costumes is promoted by the Comunità Montana Valtellina di Morbegno and changes host municipality within the district each year. In 2026, the event, now in its seventeenth edition, was hosted by Talamona, in the province of Sondrio.
A parade that tells tradition
The protagonists are the local folk groups, who parade in their traditional costumes through the historic center and the streets of the town, accompanied by local musical bands. After the parade, the afternoon is dedicated to performances: dances, songs, re-enactments of ancient crafts, popular legends, and moments related to the peasant and alpine life of the valley.
Identity of a territory
The review is much more than a costume parade: it is an opportunity for the towns of alpine Lombardy to meet and a way to pass on to new generations the memory of a rural world that has shaped the identity of Valtellina. The event is organized in collaboration with the Porte di Valtellina Tourist Consortium.
Review of Traditional Costumes — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Mandamentale Review of Traditional Costumes was held in Talamona on Sunday, May 17, bringing together 14 groups from the district for over 300 participants. The parade started at 9:00 AM and crossed the historic center accompanied by the Talamona Philharmonic, reaching the parish church for the 10:00 AM Holy Mass. After a typical lunch organized by the Pro Loco, the afternoon featured performances by the groups with dances, songs, and re-enactments of ancient crafts.

- 9:00 AM — Start of the parade of folk groups, accompanied by the Talamona Philharmonic, along the historic center and via Gavazzeni
- 10:00 AM — Holy Mass in the parish church
- 12:15 PM — Typical lunch organized by the Pro Loco at the marquee
- From 1:30 PM — Performances by folk groups: dances, songs, re-enactments of ancient crafts and popular legends
