The asparagus festival of the hamlet of Mambrotta
The Mambrotta Asparagus Festival — "sparasi" is the Venetian dialect term for asparagus — is the festival celebrating the signature product of this hamlet of San Martino Buon Albergo, in the province of Verona. Asparagus cultivation in Mambrotta has been documented since the late 19th century and developed significantly after World War II, becoming the village's identity trait.
For about two weeks, the food stand offers traditional dishes featuring asparagus: asparagus risotto, omelets, gnocchi, and other seasonal specialties. Evening openings, with some days also open for lunch, make the festival a meeting point for lovers of good food in the Verona area.
The festival combines cuisine with outdoor activities, such as the bike ride and the walk through the Mambrotta countryside, highlighting the link between the product, the territory, and its community. An authentic festival, expressing the agricultural tradition of the Veronese plain.
The 2026 edition of the Mambrotta Asparagus Festival was held from April 22 to May 3 in the hamlet of Mambrotta, San Martino Buon Albergo. The food stand, open daily from 7:00 PM and on some days also for lunch, offered traditional asparagus-based dishes. The gastronomic program was complemented by a bike ride on April 25 and a walk on May 2 through the hamlet's countryside.
The festival takes place in the Mambrotta hamlet of San Martino Buon Albergo (VR), on Via Mambrotta. Reachable by car from Verona along the SR11 and from the A4 exits.
Open daily from 7:00 PM; on some days also from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Info: [email protected] — www.sagradeisparasi.it
