One of the most famous carnivals in the Veneto region, featuring parade floats and shows
The Malo Carnival is one of the most well-known and long-standing carnival events in the Veneto region. It takes place in Malo, a town in the Alto Vicentino area of the province of Vicenza, and with over a hundred editions to its name, it has rightfully earned its place in the region's popular festival heritage.
The heart of the festival lies in the grand parades of allegorical floats, authentic works of ephemeral art created by local groups, which traverse the historic center amidst music, masks, and choreography. The parades are held on multiple days, attracting a large audience from across the province.
Alongside the parades, the program features equestrian shows in Piazza De Gasperi, music and cabaret evenings at the Rigotti Auditorium, and numerous entertainment initiatives. The event is organized by the Pro Malo Association and offers free admission, reinforcing its nature as a community celebration.
The 2026 edition, the 102nd, of the Malo Carnival revolves around three grand parades of allegorical floats, scheduled for Sunday, February 8th, Sunday, February 15th, and Tuesday, February 17th, all starting at 2:30 PM (possible postponement to Sunday, February 22nd).
The program is enriched by equestrian shows in Piazza De Gasperi (Sundays, February 8th and 15th, 5:00 PM, curated by Francesca Brunello), the musical show 'LEGGERA, Italia 50' (Friday, February 13th, 8:30 PM, at the Auditorium Rigotti, dedicated to Italian song from 1950 to 2000), and the cabaret 'I Risi & Bisi' (Sunday, February 15th, and Monday, February 16th, 8:30 PM, at the Auditorium Rigotti). All events are free admission, organized by the Pro Malo Association.
Possible postponement: Sunday, February 22nd.
Malo can be reached by car from the A31 (Thiene-Schio exit) and from provincial roads; nearby towns are Thiene and Schio. The parades wind through the historic center.
During the Carnival period (February), with main parades on Sundays and Shrove Tuesday.
All shows and parades have free admission. Equestrian shows in Piazza De Gasperi; evenings at the Rigotti Auditorium.
