About Malgari Festival

Every summer, the small village of Regnana in the municipality of Bedollo, located on the Piné Plateau in Trentino, hosts the Malgari Festival. This traditional village fair, established in 1976, blends authentic Trentino cuisine, live music, dancing, and community spirit. It is a genuine mountain event that honors the heritage of local alpine dairies and pastures, featuring dance evenings, a footrace, Holy Mass, and the historic exhibition of farm animals by the Trentino Poultry Breeders Association.

A mountain festival in the heart of the Piné Plateau

The Malgari Festival is the signature summer event of Regnana, a small village in the municipality of Bedollo, in the province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige. Nestled among the meadows and woods of the Piné Plateau, the festival is traditionally held in the village's sports and recreational area, near the Madonna delle Grazie square, and has been a beloved local summer staple for decades.

A tradition since 1976

Organized by the Malgari Festival Committee with the support of the local community, the event has been held annually since 1976. The name pays homage to the malgari—the herdsmen who spend their summers tending to livestock in the surrounding mountain pastures, such as the nearby Malga Regnana. It is a deep-rooted connection to the agropastoral identity of the Trentino mountains that the festival keeps alive from one generation to the next.

Typical cuisine, music, and conviviality

The heart of the festival is its authentic Trentino cuisine, served under the marquee with traditional mountain dishes. Evenings are enlivened by live music and dancing, with orchestras and bands keeping the crowd entertained late into the night. The event also features a charity raffle, a lottery, and various activities for both adults and children.

  • Local cuisine featuring Trentino specialties
  • Dance evenings with live music
  • Charity raffle and lottery
  • Footrace and cross-country running through the meadows of Regnana
  • Holy Mass and community gatherings

The Trentino Poultry Breeders exhibition

One of the most characteristic highlights is the exhibition stand of the Trentino Poultry Breeders Association, which has showcased farm animals and both local and national poultry breeds for years, offering visitors an educational look at the world of traditional animal husbandry.

A local event

The Malgari Festival is much more than just a gastronomic event: it is a gathering place for the entire community of Regnana and Bedollo, as well as the many vacationers who visit the Piné Plateau in summer. It is an authentic event, far from the crowds of major tourist hubs, where one can truly breathe in the genuineness of the Trentino mountains.
