Magnalavino, the Scafa food walk

Magnalavino is a food and wine walking tour held in Scafa, a small town in the Province of Pescara, Abruzzo, nestled at the foot of the Majella massif. Organized by the Mesciu association, the event follows the Italian tradition of magnalonghe: convivial walks punctuated by tasting stops, where local food becomes the common thread of a day spent in the open air.

The walk starts from the picturesque setting of Villa Bianca and winds its way to the stunning waters of the Lavino Sulfur Springs Park, the natural oasis that made Scafa famous. The waters of the Lavino River, colored an intense turquoise by dissolved sulfates, offer an almost surreal backdrop just a few kilometers from Pescara. The route is designed to be accessible to everyone, including families, and turns a simple walk into a journey through the flavors of Abruzzo's culinary tradition.

Five stops of taste

The format includes five tasting stops distributed along the route, curated by local associations and producers:

• The "Breakfast at the Start" at Villa Bianca, to kick off the day with energy;
• The "Sdijunelli", typical Abruzzo snacks served along the way;
• The final lunch upon returning to Villa Bianca, featuring pasta all'amatriciana and grilled sausage for everyone.

The participation fee includes the tasting stops, drinks, and the final lunch.

Music, comedy, and a market

Magnalavino is not just about good food: the day is enlivened by the comedic entertainment of Abruzzo showman Stellina and, in the afternoon, by a live concert from the local band Clap. In the shade of the park's monumental cedar tree, there is also a creative market featuring Abruzzo handicrafts and workshops for children, making the festival suitable for the whole family.

Nature and territory

Set in Lavino Park, managed in collaboration with the Municipality of Scafa, the event highlights one of the most authentic corners of Abruzzo. Participating in Magnalavino means combining the food and wine discovery of the Pescara area with the beauty of a unique natural landscape, where sulfur springs, lush vegetation, and views of the Majella accompany every step of the journey.
