MagiX is the Magic and Illusionism Festival held in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, in the heart of the Garfagnana region, province of Lucca. For over twenty years, in the height of summer, the festival has brought some of the most acclaimed magicians from the Italian and international scene to the town square, offering a free evening of pure entertainment under the Tuscan stars.

What makes MagiX special

The show is not just a simple performance, but a high-impact spectacle that blends different genres of magic: from grand illusions to comedy magic, from quick-change acts to sleight of hand, and even mentalism. The result is a fast-paced, fun evening full of audience interaction, perfect for both children and adults.

The artistic direction has been entrusted for years to Mago Ruitz, one of the most established names in Italian magic, who personally curates the selection of artists to ensure a top-tier cast every year.

A local tradition

MagiX is organized by the Pro Loco Castelnuovo di Garfagnana APS, in collaboration with the Municipal Administration and with the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca. The event takes place in the squares of the historic center of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, a choice that ties the spectacle to the charm of the village and the life of the community.

Where and when

The festival is held in mid-summer, typically in the first part of August, starting late in the evening. The square becomes a large open-air theater, with a dedicated stage, lighting, and sound system. Admission is always free, a feature that has helped make it one of the most popular events of the summer in Garfagnana.
