Two weeks of shows, magic, workshops, and family excursions in the Val di Fiemme
Magica Fiemme — Family Weeks is a widespread festival that, for two weeks in the height of summer, transforms the Val di Fiemme into a large open-air stage dedicated to children and families. The format is created by Armando Traverso, a long-time author and face of Rai television for children and teenagers, and stems from a collaboration with the Fiemme and Cembra Tourist Board. The events involve all the municipalities in the valley, with Cavalese — the main town of the Val di Fiemme, in the province of Trento — among the key locations.
The calendar alternates between evening shows in the squares and daytime activities for the little ones. Evenings light up with traveling illusionist performances by magicians such as Van Denon, Nicole, Ale Bellotto, and Cristina Valenti, accompanied by friendly puppets and musical moments. During the day, creative and educational workshops follow one another, designed to stimulate imagination and curiosity:
A special chapter is dedicated to narrative excursions at altitude: hikes accompanied by mountain guides and Armando Traverso, during which Dolomite landscapes and traditional local fairy tales intertwine in an experience suitable for the whole family.
In Cavalese, the iconic landmarks of town life become the setting for the initiative: the Parco della Pieve hosts afternoon workshops, while Piazza Italia welcomes the evening shows. The program includes puppet workshops using recycled materials, video game mini-courses, and musical evenings, some of which are linked to the radio programs of Rai Radio Kids and Rai Radio Tutta Italiana. All events are free and take place outdoors; in case of bad weather, the shows are guaranteed in indoor venues.
Beyond the fun, Magica Fiemme is an opportunity to discover the Val di Fiemme and its excellence, with connections to attractions such as the Storytelling Village at Alpe Cermis, the Latemar MontagnAnimata, and the Geological Museum of the Dolomites in Predazzo. The festival is part of the broader commitment of Trentino-Alto Adige to family tourism, offering residents and visitors an authentic and free way to experience summer in the mountains of the Municipality of Cavalese and the entire valley.
The 2026 edition of Magica Fiemme takes place from July 1st to 15th throughout the Val di Fiemme, with events also dedicated to Cavalese. The program alternates evening illusionist shows — with magicians such as Van Denon, Nicole, Ale Bellotto, and Cristina Valenti — with daytime workshops on creative recycling, scientific experiments, magic, and video games. In Cavalese, the calendar includes the puppet workshop "Carta Canta: Burattini all'opera" at Parco della Pieve, the video game mini-course at the "La Rosa Bianca" Institute, and the "Radio Tutta Italiana" evening in Piazza Italia featuring emerging local artists. There is no shortage of narrative excursions at altitude accompanied by Armando Traverso and mountain guides. All events are free and outdoors; in case of bad weather, they will take place indoors.
Cavalese can be reached by car from the A22 Brenner motorway (exit Egna/Ora or San Michele all'Adige/Mezzocorona) by driving up the Val di Fiemme along the SS48 of the Dolomites. By train, the reference station is Ora/Auer, connected to Cavalese by bus.
All events are free. For workshops, booking is recommended through the Fiemme and Cembra Tourist Board (tel. +39 0462 241111) or the website www.visitfiemme.it.
Evening shows are held in Piazza Italia, afternoon workshops at Parco della Pieve. In case of bad weather, events will move indoors. Bring suitable mountain clothing for the narrative excursions at altitude.
