Ten days of celebration and devotion in Graglia, featuring the dawn Mass at the Madonna della Neve and evenings filled with music and Biellese cuisine.
Every summer, the small town of Graglia, in the Province of Biella, experiences its most awaited moment: the Madonna di Campra Festival. Organized by the local Pro Loco, it is one of the most cherished traditions in the entire Biella region, blending religious devotion with the popular joy of a village fair. For about ten days, centered around August 5th, the evenings in Graglia are filled with music, dancing, the aromas of traditional cuisine, and the lights of the funfair.
The spiritual heart of the festival is the dawn Mass on August 5th, celebrated at 4:30 AM in the small church of Campra in honor of Our Lady of the Snows. Despite the unusual hour, this Mass has attracted hundreds of pilgrims from all over the Biella area for centuries, creating a collected and evocative atmosphere. Throughout the day, other celebrations take place, including a Mass for the sick, the blessing and distribution of bread, and a sung Mass featuring local choirs. The Marian devotion of Campra has ancient roots: the church originated as an oratory dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows, built around 1628 by Father Garrono at the gates of Graglia, and was later linked to the grand Sacro Monte project conceived by Father Nicolao Velotti, which also gave rise to the famous Sanctuary of Graglia. The current building, reconstructed between 1825 and 1826, preserves a marble altar and houses numerous ex-voto offerings that testify to the faith of the pilgrims.
Beyond its religious dimension, the Campra Festival is, above all, a great summer celebration. Every evening, the Pro Loco food stand offers traditional dishes from the Biella and Piedmont regions, accompanied by beer, cocktails, and great company. There is no shortage of dance nights with live orchestras and bands, entertainment for all ages, and the unmissable funfair, which makes the festival a favorite for families as well. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the hospitality of a Biellese village and experience the authentic atmosphere of a local fair at the foot of the mountains.
The Madonna di Campra Festival is much more than just a summer event: it is a defining appointment for Graglia and the entire Biella area, capable of being passed down from generation to generation. Between faith, gastronomy, and popular celebration, it represents one of the most genuine ways to get to know the traditions of the Piedmontese mountains and the hospitality of the Graglia community.
The most anticipated event of the year returns to Graglia from July 31st to August 9th, 2026: the Madonna di Campra Festival. The Pro Loco of Graglia offers ten days of celebration with a food stand dedicated to traditional Biellese dishes, beer, cocktail bars, live music and dance evenings, as well as the ever-popular funfair.
The most solemn moment remains the dawn Mass on August 5th, celebrated at 4:30 AM in the small church of Campra in honor of Our Lady of the Snows, with the participation of numerous pilgrims from across the Biella region.
