Biella celebrates the National Made in Italy Day through textile excellence, art, and sustainability
The Made in Italy Week in Biella was created to celebrate the National Made in Italy Day, a national observance held on April 15th, dedicated to Italian creativity, production culture, and craftsmanship. In Biella, in the heart of the textile Piedmont (Province of Biella), the day expands into a week-long calendar of events involving iconic wool industry sites, local institutions, and the educational world.
Biella is no ordinary city when it comes to Made in Italy: it is one of the world's historic hubs for textile manufacturing, where water from the Biellese Alps has powered wool mills, fulling mills, and spinning mills for centuries. It is no coincidence that the 2026 edition chose "Water and Sustainability" as its core theme: the soul of water and the excellence of sustainability, a common thread linking natural resources to Biella's industrial genius.
The strength of the event lies in its mix of different formats. It ranges from conventions for entrepreneurs and students to meetings on industrial supply chains promoted by the Biellese Industrial Union, from fashion shows to art exhibitions, and even immersive performances that combine dance, music, set design, and fashion. Key institutional and cultural partners include the Municipality of Biella, the Piedmont Region, Città Studi, the Sella Foundation, ITS Academy TAM, and the Teatro alla Scala Academy.
The appointments are held in some of the city's most evocative locations: from the Lanificio Maurizio Sella to the Città Studi Auditorium, and from Palazzo Gromo Losa to the Woolbridge Gallery in the former Pria Wool Mills. Most events are free to enter, although some require prior booking. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes of a production district that has shaped the history of Italian textiles.
The 2026 edition of the Made in Italy Week in Biella had as its common thread "Water and Sustainability: the Soul of Water and the Excellence of Sustainability", celebrating the water of the Biellese Alps as a resource that has powered the local textile industry for centuries. Promoted by the Municipality of Biella with the Piedmont Region and numerous industrial and cultural partners, the week intertwined business, art, and education. The most anticipated moment was the immersive performance on April 15th, the National Made in Italy Day.
Events take place in multiple venues in the center of Biella and in historic industrial areas: Lanificio Maurizio Sella, Città Studi Auditorium, Palazzo Gromo Losa, and Woolbridge Gallery (former Pria Wool Mills).
By train: Biella San Paolo station, well-connected to Novara and Turin. By car: from the A4 Turin-Milan motorway, take the Carisio exit, then the highway to Biella. Nearest airports: Turin Caselle and Milan Malpensa.
Most events are free; some, such as the immersive performance, require mandatory booking. Registrations are managed via the dedicated Eventbrite platform.
