The Living Nativity of Armenzano
Organized by the Pro Loco of Armenzano, the living nativity scene of this mountain hamlet in the Municipality of Assisi (province of Perugia) is one of the most beloved Christmas reenactments in the area. Created to promote and showcase the small village perched on Monte Subasio, it features about twenty fully acted scenes, with over 60 participants and several animals.
Twenty Scenes of Faith and Ancient Crafts
Through the village alleys, the local population reenacts the moments related to the birth of Jesus: the Angel's Annunciation to Mary, Joseph's doubts, the visit to Elizabeth, Herod's wrath, the census, and the arrival of the Magi. The sacred scenes alternate with interludes of daily life — the shoemaker, the miller, the stonemason, the builder, the shepherd — culminating in the Nativity.
In the Monte Subasio Park
The setting is the Monte Subasio Natural Park, which makes the experience even more evocative. During the evenings, a refreshment point is available with typical products and mulled wine. The event is part of the "Christmas in Assisi" program.

2026-2027 Edition
The Living Nativity of Armenzano renews its Christmas appointment in the Subasio village. The format is confirmed with about twenty scenes between the Nativity and ancient crafts, over 60 participants, and the refreshment point with typical products.
Performances are usually held on December 26th, January 1st, and the days around Epiphany, in the afternoon-evening hours.
Programme Living Nativity of Armenzano 2026
The detailed schedule of performances for 2026-2027 will be published by the Pro Loco of Armenzano closer to the Christmas holidays.
Based on recent editions, the usual schedule is as follows:
- Dates: December 26th, January 1st, and (scheduled) January 5th-6th
- Time: from late afternoon to evening (approximately 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM)
- Location: alleys of the medieval village of Armenzano
- Refreshment point with typical products and mulled wine
