The neighborhood festival at Parco Fratelli Grimm, celebrating community, art, and urban regeneration
Live in Quartaccio is a community festival bringing music, art, and games to Parco Fratelli Grimm, located in the Quartaccio district within Rome's 14th Municipality, on the city's northwestern outskirts. The event is free and open to the public, acting as the highlight of a broader community activation and urban regeneration project designed to return shared, vibrant spaces to the local residents.
The event is promoted by ZIP Zone APS and Synaptica Project, with the support of the Periferiacapitale program by the Fondazione Charlemagne and in collaboration with the 14th Municipality. Over the months, the initiative has engaged children, students, families, and residents in activities focused on caring for the local area, fostering creativity, and building new community relationships. The festival marks a turning point in this journeyโa chance to gather and reconnect as a neighborhood.
The event is part of the Settimana delle Periferie (Suburbs Week) calendar, which accompanies the National Day of the Suburbs on June 24th across Italy. It is a way to give voice and visibility to often-marginalized territories, placing citizen participation and the value of public spaces as meeting points at the center of the conversation.
The program combines various artistic expressions into a single day outdoors: creative workshops like naturalistic patchwork, theater and play areas for children, a soap bubble show, and a musical tribute to Roman songs. The format is that of an intergenerational festival where adults and children share experiences, concluding with an aperitif offered to all participants.
Live in Quartaccio does not end with the festival day: the project continues and culminates in September with the inauguration of the Biblio-Zome, a wooden structure designed as an open-air herbarium, an educational space, and a meeting point for the neighborhood. It is a tangible legacy that demonstrates how a festival can become the seed of lasting transformation for a Roman suburb.
The 2026 edition of Live in Quartaccio takes place on Tuesday, June 23, at Parco Fratelli Grimm in Rome's 14th Municipality, with free admission.
