Literature Lessons is the cycle of meetings that the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome dedicates to the masterpieces of world literature and the most significant contemporary works. Promoted by the Fondazione Musica per Roma together with the Fondazione De Sanctis, the series invites a writer, intellectual, or leading figure of Italian culture each week to recount, with personal and original sensitivity, a book that has left a mark on their personal and intellectual path.

These are not academic lectures, but passionate conversations in which the speaker guides the audience through the pages of a classic, revealing hidden meanings and highlighting their relevance today. A format that has captured the hearts of avid readers, students, and curious minds over the years, making the Monday evening appointment one of the most beloved cultural events in the Capital.

The 2026 edition: the sixth

The 6th edition took place from January 15 to May 4, 2026, featuring ten meetings in the Teatro Studio Gianni Borgna, all starting at 7:30 PM. The program spanned literature from every era and country: from the intimacy of Natalia Ginzburg to the restlessness of Franz Kafka, from the adventure of Robert Louis Stevenson to the gothic style of Bram Stoker, passing through Elsa Morante, Thomas Bernhard, Goffredo Parise, and Carlo Emilio Gadda.

Some of the most authoritative voices on the Italian cultural scene took the stage: Annalena Benini, Gianrico Carofiglio, Vittorio Lingiardi, Beppe Severgnini, Emanuele Trevi, Chiara Francini, Stefania Auci, and the philosopher Massimo Cacciari, who closed the series with a reading of Kafka's The Trial.

A landmark of Roman culture

The series is held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, in the Flaminio district, the large complex designed by Renzo Piano that is now the main cultural hub of the City of Rome. The Teatro Studio Gianni Borgna, an intimate hall with warm acoustics, provides the ideal setting for a close encounter between the speaker and the audience.

Included in the Capital's event calendar and supported by the cultural institutions of the Lazio region, Literature Lessons confirms Rome's vocation as a city of reading and intellectual debate, capable of bringing thousands of enthusiasts together every year around the books that have made history.
