Fifteen evenings of books, authors, and nature in Quare di Campertogno
Libri in Scena is the summer literary festival organized by the Don Piercesare De Vecchi municipal library of Campertogno, a small town in the Valsesia valley in the Province of Vercelli, Piedmont. For fifteen consecutive evenings, authors and readers gather to discuss books, stories, and culture in an intimate, family-like atmosphere that has become the hallmark of the event.
The meetings take place in the Quare hamlet, in a charming open-air space set up next to the Oratory of San Pietro. Here, authors and the public engage in conversation without barriers, sitting among the meadows and surrounded by the Val Sermenza mountains, with the Sesia river passing close by. In case of bad weather, the events move indoors so that the festival can continue without interruption. Each evening kicks off at 6:00 PM.
The schedule features about fifteen consecutive events, each dedicated to a book presented directly by its author. Genres range from contemporary fiction to thrillers, historical essays, poetry, and research into the history and traditions of Valsesia. There are also meetings dedicated to medieval Valsesia and the figure of Fra Dolcino, which root the festival in the local territory and its memory.
The event stems from the work of the Don Piercesare De Vecchi Library with the support of the Municipality of Campertogno and the Viviamo Qui project, designed to bring life to the mountains and their villages during the summer. More than just a series of presentations, Libri in Scena is a meeting point for residents and vacationers, an opportunity to experience culture immersed in the nature of Valsesia.
Those who choose to spend their summer in Valsesia will find in Libri in Scena a daily appointment that combines reading, landscape, and social connection. The setting of Quare, the evening timing, and free admission make the festival accessible to everyone: families, book lovers, and curious visitors can stop by for even just one evening and let themselves be captivated by an author's storytelling at sunset among the Piedmontese mountains.
The fourth edition of Libri in Scena takes place from July 31st to August 14th, 2026, with fifteen consecutive events in the hamlet of Quare in Campertogno, next to the Oratory of San Pietro. The festival brings together writers, researchers, and journalists for fifteen evenings dedicated to books and stories, all starting at 6:00 PM.
The 2026 program covers various genres: contemporary fiction, historical novels, thrillers, essays, poetry, philosophy, and research on local history, with two evenings dedicated to medieval Valsesia and the figure of Fra Dolcino. Announced authors include Michele Marziani, Erica Roveglia, Umberto Lacchetti, Giulio Pavignano, and Mauro Rossetti.

We recommend clothing suitable for mountain evenings, even in summer, and bringing a blanket or cushion to sit on the grass in Quare.
