About Liberty Market

Launched in 2025 in the heart of the Quartieri Spagnoli, Liberty Market is a vintage and independent creativity fair that brings the 16th-century cloister of the FOQUS Foundation in Naples to life. Over seventy exhibitors offer second-hand clothing, crafts, design pieces, vinyl records, and upcycled goods, while the food area brings authentic Neapolitan gourmet street food into the courtyard. Live music, vinyl sets, and upcycling workshops round out a full day—from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.—dedicated to sustainability and the city’s creative scene.

The vintage market in the heart of the Quartieri Spagnoli

Liberty Market is one of the freshest and most successful additions to the Neapolitan calendar: a market dedicated to vintage, second-hand goods, and independent creativity held in one of the most iconic locations in the city, the FOQUS Foundation complex on Via Portacarrese a Montecalvario, in the Quartieri Spagnoli. Founded in 2025 through a partnership between the Quostro bistro, the Quartieri Spagnoli Foundation, and Eventi Napoli, the project has a clear mission: to promote reuse, recycling, and independent creativity through public events that bring together artisans, collectors, musicians, and curious visitors.

A 16th-century cloister turned into a creative square

The setting is a huge part of the market's charm. The 16th-century cloister of the former Montecalvario institute, now home to FOQUS, opens its courtyards, corridors, and terraces for the occasion. Stalls are spread out along the portico and open spaces, creating a multi-level experience that feels far more immersive than a standard street market. It is one of the rare opportunities to freely explore a historic building that has become a symbol of urban regeneration in the Montecalvario district.

Over seventy exhibitors: vintage, crafts, and design

The heart of the event is the curated selection of exhibitors: over seventy stalls covering a wide range of offerings.

  • Vintage and second-hand clothing, featuring curated pieces and sustainable fashion;
  • Local crafts and handmade goods, from jewelry to accessories;
  • Upcycled and restored objects, vintage furniture, and home decor;
  • Art and design, prints, illustrations, and small independent publishing;
  • Vinyl records and collectibles;
  • Independent brands and creative talent from the Naples area.

The approach is far from a simple commercial fair: the selection prioritizes those focused on upcycling, self-production, and the circular economy, in line with the social mission of FOQUS.

Gourmet street food and live music

The gastronomic section is one of the main reasons locals line up at the entrance. The food is provided by well-known local gourmet street food vendors, accompanied by drinks curated by the Quostro bistro and a selection of craft beers. Music accompanies the entire day: vinyl sets, DJ sets, and live concerts turn the courtyard into a small open-air stage, with evening performances keeping the event lively until 10 p.m.

Workshops, upcycling, and space for children

Alongside the stalls, there are workshops and interactive activities designed to introduce the public to techniques for upcycling, furniture restoration, and conscious consumption. The workshops are open to both adults and children, with a dedicated free area for the latter: Liberty Market is truly a family-friendly event, not just a gathering for vintage enthusiasts.

An event that tells the story of today's Naples

Organized in the municipality of Naples, in Campania, Liberty Market is part of a neighborhood—the Quartieri Spagnoli—that has undergone a profound transformation in recent years, shaped by tourism, urban art, and social projects. FOQUS, with its schools, workshops, and inclusion activities, is a driving force behind this change. Participating in the market also means indirectly supporting a regeneration project that involves thousands of children and families in the neighborhood.

When it takes place and how to participate

Liberty Market is held on an irregular basis, with dates announced via the organizers' channels. The first edition was held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, and the second on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The hours are always the same, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the entrance at Via Portacarrese a Montecalvario 69. It is best to arrive in the morning to browse the stalls at a leisurely pace and stay until the evening for the music and food.

Liberty Market — edition 2026

On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Liberty Market returned to the courtyard of the FOQUS Foundation in the Quartieri Spagnoli of Naples for its second edition. From 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., over seventy exhibitors animated the cloister with vintage items, crafts, sustainable fashion, jewelry, independent brands, and vinyl records, accompanied by a food area with drinks by Quostro, craft beers, all-day music, and a free children's area.
