About Letino Festival

Every July, the village of Letino, perched at an altitude of 1,000 meters in the Caserta Matese, becomes home to around six hundred young people from across Europe and over twenty-five countries. Promoted by the Stabat Foundation, the Letino Festival weaves together international conferences, art, music, excursions, and moments of prayer along the banks of the Lete River, between Letino and Gallo Matese. It is not a local village fair, but a true encounter of culture and spirituality amidst the peaks of the Matese, in the province of Caserta.

A Matese village that becomes a home for the world

For a few days every July, the small town of Letino, perched at an altitude of about 1,000 meters in the heart of the Matese Massif in the province of Caserta, transforms into an international crossroads. The Letino Festival attracts around six hundred participants, mostly young people, from over twenty-five countries across Europe and the world. Promoted by the Stabat Foundation, the event takes place between Letino and the nearby village of Gallo Matese, along the banks of the Lete River, which gives its name to this land in the Upper Caserta area of Campania.

Culture, art, and spirituality

The festival is not a traditional village feast, but a gathering that fosters dialogue between culture, art, science, and faith. Each morning, conferences are held with international speakers—philosophers, scientists, artists, journalists, and theologians—accompanied by simultaneous translation, allowing attendees from different linguistic backgrounds to follow and participate. Alongside the conferences, there are moments of communal and personal prayer, open to all who wish to join.

A multidisciplinary program

The days in Letino are full and varied. Offerings include:

  • Art workshops: icon painting, theater, music, dance, and traditional crafts;
  • Outdoor activities: hiking in the Matese, trekking, canyoning, and canoeing on the lakes;
  • Exhibitions of painting, photography, and sculpture, featuring artists from several continents;
  • Evenings of concerts, theatrical performances, dance, and screenings in the village squares;
  • Kids Village, a space dedicated to children and families.

Among the peaks of the Matese

The event is framed by the landscape of the Matese Regional Park: forests, plateaus, lakes, and springs that make Letino a destination of great natural charm even outside the festival days. Exploring the area—the village, the trails, the traditions, and the local cuisine—is an integral part of the experience. Over the years, the Letino Festival has enjoyed the patronage of public bodies, including the European Union, the Ministry of Culture, the Campania Region, and local municipalities, along with local Pro Loco associations.

A project with deep roots

The initiative is rooted in the spiritual and cultural experience of the Stabat Foundation, led by the French priest Father Jean-Marie Porté, the project's founder and soul. Year after year, the festival has brought hundreds of young people to the Matese, making Letino a place of encounter for different peoples, languages, and sensibilities in a small town in inland Campania.

Letino Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Letino Festival takes place from July 22 to 26, themed "Pact Forever." About six hundred attendees from all over Europe and beyond are expected between Letino and Gallo Matese for five days of conferences, art, music, and spirituality in the Caserta Matese.

The 2026 edition of the Letino Festival takes place from July 22 to 26, 2026, under the title "Pact Forever", a common thread that runs through philosophy, politics, faith, culture, and music. As every year, the village of Letino and the nearby Gallo Matese welcome about six hundred participants, mostly young people, from all over Europe and over twenty-five countries.

The day follows a set rhythm: morning prayer (Lauds) in the parish church of San Giovanni Battista, Mass, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by conferences under the marquee set up at the municipal sports fields, art workshops, excursions, and evening concerts and shows in the squares. The Kids Village for the little ones is also confirmed.
