The Singer-Songwriter category final of the Lazio Region music contest, held at Stazione Birra in Rome
LAZIOSound is the major music contest promoted by the Lazio Region through its Youth Policies department and organized by LAZIOcrea, designed to help young talents under 35 turn their passion for music into a profession. Each year, the project receives hundreds of applications from across the region, guiding them through a growth path consisting of live finals, training, and concrete production and promotion opportunities. For the 2026 edition, over 720 applications were received across the various competition categories.
The city stage held in the Capital is the Singer-Songwriter category final, scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Stazione Birra, a historic venue in Rome on Via Placanica, in the Centroni district (Municipality VII). The five finalists selected for the category dedicated to original songwriting will take the stage to perform their tracks before an audience and a jury of industry experts. The event, with free admission, kicks off at 9:00 PM.
Competing for the category victory are five young artists with diverse stories and styles:
The special guest of the evening is Irene Grandi, one of the most beloved voices in Italian pop music. The winner is determined by a jury of professionals including, among others, artistic director Paolo Vita, along with Maurizio Fabrizio, Enzo Campagnoli, Gianni Testa, Federica Gentile, Giorgiana Cristalli, and the singer and presenter Alma Manera.
Winning a LAZIOSound category means gaining access to a prize package designed to launch a career: the production and recording of a single with a music video, consulting for promotion and distribution, and free participation in the LAZIOSound CAMPUS, a training program covering songwriting, arrangement, booking, promotion, and copyright law. The best proposals also find space in showcases and major events, with opportunities that have included national appointments over the years. The Rome Singer-Songwriter final is one of the stages leading to the absolute grand final of the contest, hosted at the Castello di Santa Severa, outside the Capital.
The setting for the evening is Stazione Birra, a landmark venue for the Roman live scene in the Centroni district, on the city's south-eastern outskirts. The choice of an accessible and free city stage confirms the project's popular vocation: bringing the new music of Lazio into direct contact with the public, in a Rome that continues to be a forge for singer-songwriters and new voices.
