About Laurenzana Carnival

The Laurenzana Carnival brings color and joy to the historic center of the Lucanian Dolomite village: gathering at the Multipurpose Hall, masked parade along the main street with musical entertainment, confetti, and lots of fun for adults and children, and a final party with group dances, balloons, and games for kids.

The village dresses up in masks

When Fat Tuesday arrives, Laurenzana - a charming village perched in the province of Potenza, overlooking the Lucanian Dolomites - transforms into a small open-air theater. The Laurenzana Carnival, organized by the Municipality in collaboration with the Summer Carnival Association, is the festival that brings the entire community together, young and old, invited to take to the streets with their own masks.

From the Multipurpose Hall to the main street

The meeting point is at the Multipurpose Hall, from where the parade along the main street begins: a river of masks, confetti, and musical entertainment that crosses the heart of the town. It's the most anticipated moment, when the streets fill with color and the desire to have fun.

The party for children

The afternoon concludes back at the Multipurpose Hall with music and entertainment: confetti throwing, balloons, group dances, and the Bubble House designed for the little ones. A simple and genuine carnival, tailored for the community, which renews the pleasure of being together in the heart of Basilicata every year.

Among the Lucanian Dolomites

Celebrating Carnival in Laurenzana also means discovering one of the most characteristic villages in the Potenza hinterland, an ideal starting point for excursions among the woods and peaks of the Lucanian Dolomites. An opportunity to combine the festival with the beauty of the landscape.
