21.097 km between the rationalist city centre and the Pontine coastline
The Latina Half Marathon has become one of the most anticipated road races in the Lazio region's calendar. Organized by the ASD In Corsa Libera association, led by Davide Fioriello, it takes place every year at the end of March in the capital of the Province of Latina, attracting elite athletes, amateurs, and enthusiasts from all over Italy. The event is supported by the Lazio Region, the Municipality of Latina, the Province of Latina, CONI Lazio, and Opes, and is included in the national calendar of the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL).
The start and finish lines are located at the Campo CONI on Via Botticelli, just a short distance from the city centre. From there, the route winds through Via Michelangelo Buonarroti, Viale XXI Aprile, Via Sauro, Via Silvio Pellico, Via delle Medaglie d'Oro, and Piazza della Libertร , passing through the rationalist architecture that tells the story of the city founded in the 1930s. After leaving the urban loop, the race heads towards the coastline, where the Tyrrhenian breeze accompanies the middle kilometres, before returning to the Campo CONI. It is a flat course, considered one of the fastest in the region: it is no coincidence that numerous personal bests are set here every year.
The Latina Half is more than just a race: on that Sunday in late March, the city centre is closed to traffic and filled with spectators, with families lining the route, local sports clubs, and volunteers at the refreshment stations. The Family Walk, which starts at 9:30 AM, has played a decisive role in turning the event into a popular festival that engages even those who don't run. In recent years, growth has been steady: from approximately 1,600 total participants to over 2,000, a record figure reached in 2026.
Alongside the popular dimension, there is a significant competitive level. The starting line usually features top national athletes and well-known figures from the road racing world, such as the 100 km multi-world champion Giorgio Calcaterra. The timing service is provided by ENDU, with results published online at the end of the race, and the organizers provide pacers for the main target times.
Running in Latina means crossing a piece of Italian urban history: founded in 1932 under the name Littoria at the heart of the Agro Pontino reclamation project, the city retains a recognizable rationalist layout, with Piazza del Popolo, the town hall, and large straight avenues. A few kilometres away lie the Circeo National Park, coastal lakes, and the beaches of Latina Mare and Sabaudia, ideal destinations to extend your race weekend with a visit to the Pontine territory and its seafood cuisine.
The 2026 edition, the twenty-fourth, exceeded 2,000 total participants for the first time, with about 1,000 registered for the half marathon alone. The day, coinciding with Palm Sunday, was managed with coordinated road closures to limit inconvenience to the city.
In the 21.097 km race, Umberto Persi (Atletica La Sbarra Roma) won in 1h07'02, ahead of Alexandru Ciumacov (1h07'13) and Michele Prova (1h09'22), with a race record and personal bests on the podium. Among the women, Sara Carnicelli (Athletica Vaticana) succeeded with a time of 1h18'03, followed by Ayse Burcin Sonmez and Hanna Bergstrom. In the Nove.800, victories went to Diego Papoccia (31'44) and Ilaria Colonnelli (38'13).
The route passed through Via Michelangelo Buonarroti, Viale XXI Aprile, Via Sauro, Via Silvio Pellico, Via delle Medaglie d'Oro, and Piazza della Libertร , continuing towards the coast before returning to the Campo CONI.
