A race born among the Migliare of the Agro Pontino

Corri da Marino is a 10km road running race held in Pontinia, a town in the province of Latina, Lazio. Launched in 2024 by Podistica Pontinia, the event quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated dates on the local amateur running calendar, attracting nearly two hundred athletes from across the province and surrounding areas in its very first edition.

The race's defining feature is its setting: runners traverse the rural landscape of Pontinia, navigating the famous Migliare—the straight roads that cut through the reclaimed plains of the Agro Pontino, telling the story of this territory's recent history. It is an open agricultural landscape of canals, cultivated fields, and farmhouses that offers runners miles of fresh air and a unique light in the hours leading up to sunset.

The Course

The route is entirely paved and flat, making it particularly fast and suitable for both those chasing a personal best and those running for pleasure. The race starts in the square of the Da Marino restaurant on Via del Tomarone, on the outskirts of Pontinia. From there, the course follows Migliara 48 sinistra towards the Quartaccio area, before returning via Migliara 49 and Via della Mezzaluna to the finish line.

The UISP Circuit and the Spirit of the Race

Corri da Marino is part of the Grande Slam UISP «Natalino Nocera», a circuit that brings together the main running races of the UISP territorial committee of Latina. This ensures official timing, general and category rankings, awards for the top three men and women, and reimbursements for the largest teams. But the race is about more than just competition: the event includes a race pack for early registrants and a special tribute to AVIS blood donors, reflecting the strong bond the event has built with the local blood donor association of Pontinia.

After the Race, the Feast

One of the key ingredients to the success of Corri da Marino is what happens after the finish line. Participants can gather for a convivial dinner featuring a first course, a main course, water, and live music for a nominal fee. It is a finale that perfectly captures the spirit of amateur running in Lazio, where competition quickly melts into a village festival shared by athletes, families, and volunteers.

Pontinia and the Estate Pontiniana

Founded in 1935 as one of the "new cities" of the Pontine land reclamation, Pontinia is a young town with a strong identity tied to the land, the reclamation works, and the great transformation of the plains. Corri da Marino fits naturally into this narrative: running through the Migliare means crossing the very geometry of the reclamation.

In 2026, the race takes on an even more symbolic role: scheduled for September 26th, it will officially close the Estate Pontiniana (Pontinia Summer), the town's long calendar of summer events that brings concerts, shows, the Feast of Saint Anne, and numerous popular initiatives to the city. It is a way to bid farewell to the season by running, with the community cheering along the country roads.
