The mountain race across the Lagorai peaks in memory of Tommaso Mattivi
The Lagorai Mountain Race is one of the most evocative and challenging events in the Trentino mountain running scene. It takes place in Regnana, a small village in the Municipality of Bedollo, on the Piné Plateau in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The race starts directly from the village square at an altitude of 1,220 meters, immediately heading toward the ridges of the Lagorai chain, one of the wildest and most fascinating mountain environments in the Eastern Alps.
The route covers approximately 23 kilometers with over 1,500 meters of positive elevation gain, leading athletes from Regnana to Monte Croce. Along the way, runners traverse forests, technical trails, sharp ridges, and high-altitude landscapes, touching peaks such as Cimon di Pontara, Cimon de Sprugio, and Monte Croce, with views spanning the entire Lagorai range. This course is reserved for those who love true mountain running: steep climbs, technical descents, and few flat sections. Three refreshment points support the athletes along the route.
The race is much more than a simple sporting competition: it is a memorial dedicated to Tommaso Mattivi, a young friend and mountain enthusiast who passed away prematurely. The idea was born in 2022 from a group of young locals who wanted to remember Tommy through a demanding yet spectacular race that captures the love for these mountains. Since its first edition, which saw about a hundred participants, the event has grown into a staple of the Trentino running calendar.
The Lagorai Mountain Race is part of the Trentino Mountain Cup circuit, which brings together some of the most beautiful mountain races in the province, alongside events like the Maddalene Sky Race, the Vigolana The Race, and the Latemar Mountain Race. The event is organized by the ASD Lagorai Mountain Race - Memorial Tommaso Mattivi, with the support of the Regnana and Bedollo communities.
Beyond the competition, the day is a celebration for the entire Piné Plateau community. The village of Regnana, nestled in greenery and surrounded by the Lagorai peaks, welcomes athletes, companions, and fans in an atmosphere of sport and conviviality, showcasing an authentic and still-undiscovered corner of Trentino.
The fifth edition of the Lagorai Mountain Race will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Regnana, a village in the municipality of Bedollo (Trento). The start is scheduled from the village square, following the usual technical course of approximately 23 kilometers and over 1,500 meters of elevation gain up to Monte Croce, through the Lagorai peaks.
Registration is open via the official event platform, with an entry fee of 25 euros. The race confirms its nature as a memorial dedicated to Tommaso Mattivi and is part of the Trentino Mountain Cup circuit. The detailed program with times, categories, and side events will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the race.
Regnana is a village in the municipality of Bedollo, on the Piné Plateau. By car from Trento, it can be reached in about 40 minutes via the SS47 Valsugana road and then the provincial roads toward Baselga di Piné and Bedollo. The nearest train station is Trento, which is connected to the plateau by local bus lines.
Registration is handled online via the official event platform. The entry fee for the 2026 edition is 25 euros. It is recommended to register well in advance of the deadline set by the organizers.
As this is a high-altitude race on technical terrain, appropriate mountain running clothing and footwear are required. Carrying a personal water supply between refreshment points is highly recommended.
