Cycling along the Po
La Sabbiosa is the cycling tourism promotion event in Viadana, in the Province of Mantua, designed to help discover the Po River landscape by bike, between embankments, floodplains, and cycle paths like the VenTo. Organized by Pro Loco Viadana, its operational base is at the Arena Spettacoli (Show Arena) on Via Al Ponte.
Bikes, River, and Culture
The formula combines bike rides with river navigation on the motorboat Padus, with excursions towards Casalmaggiore and Sabbioneta, accompanied by environmental guides. There are also cultural moments, such as book presentations dedicated to cycling tourism, and routes designed for different fitness levels, from short rides around Viadana to more challenging gravel tracks.
A Ride for Charity
La Sabbiosa is also a charity event: the convivial dinner and related initiatives support local solidarity projects. An event that intertwines gentle sport, nature, culture, and commitment, enhancing the bond between Viadana and its great river.
La Sabbiosa — edition 2026
The 5th edition of La Sabbiosa takes place on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 2026, and for the first time is spread over two days, with its base at the Arena Spettacoli in Viadana and organized by Pro Loco Viadana.
Saturday, June 20 is dedicated to a bike excursion combined with navigation on the motorboat Padus towards Casalmaggiore (two groups, with round trip between bike and river), accompanied by environmental guide Elisa Montanari; in the evening, a presentation of the book "Ciclovie d'Italia" with the author Ilaria Fiorillo and a charity dinner (gnocco fritto and cured meats) to support the Casa Max project in Togo. Sunday, June 21 features three cycling tourism routes: Rospo (short, around Viadana), Moscatello (gravel, along the Sabbioneta embankments with a visit to the Teatro all'Antica), and Ramparino (approx. 80 km along VenTo, Casalmaggiore, Sabbioneta, and historic bridges), with a final lunch featuring luadel De.Co. and cured meats.
