Two days of books, talks, and special guests in the heart of the Val d'Orcia
La Posta Letteraria is a book festival held in Radicofani, a charming medieval village perched in the province of Siena, in southern Tuscany. Founded in 2019 by a group of local youths, it has quickly become one of the most beloved cultural events of the Tuscan summer, described by its organizers as "the largest book festival outside of major cities."
The setting is the extraordinary Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape: rolling hills, cypress trees, and villages that have inspired artists for centuries. The talks take place in Bosco Isabella, a romantic early 20th-century monumental garden that offers a unique atmosphere, suspended between nature and culture. In case of bad weather, events are moved to the Teatro Costantini in the town center.
The festival goes beyond books: it spans from literature to current events, covering journalism, philosophy, science, music, cinema, entertainment, sports, and politics. The stage hosts major names from Italian culture, authors, reporters, and key figures in public debate, who engage with the audience in an informal and intimate setting.
Over the years, La Posta Letteraria has hosted leading voices in journalism and literature, cementing its reputation as a go-to destination for those seeking a high-quality festival away from the crowds of big cities.
One of the hallmarks of the event is that all talks are completely free to attend, with no booking required. The festival has also introduced the "Pausa Voucher," a 10% discount valid at participating local bars, restaurants, wineries, farmhouses, and accommodations, allowing visitors to pair their reading sessions with the best of local hospitality.
The event is supported by the Tuscany Region, the University of Siena, the Municipality of Radicofani, and the Val d'Orcia Park, confirming the festival's deep roots in the local cultural and institutional fabric. Visiting La Posta Letteraria means discovering not just the talks, but also a village of authentic charm and one of Italy's most beloved landscapes.
The eighth edition of La Posta Letteraria takes place on July 4 and 5, 2026, in the Bosco Isabella of Radicofani, in the heart of the Val d'Orcia. The program weaves together literature, journalism, geopolitics, cinema, and current affairs, featuring a lineup of prominent authors and writers. The most anticipated moment is the talk with Carlo Verdone, one of the most beloved actors and directors in Italian cinema. All events are free to attend.
The program is subject to change: we recommend checking the official festival channels for updates.
Radicofani is located in the south of the province of Siena, in the Val d'Orcia. By car, it can be reached via the A1 motorway (Fabro or Chiusi-Chianciano exit) or the SS2 Cassia road. The nearest train station is Chiusi-Chianciano Terme, from where you can continue by car or local bus connections.
The talks take place in Bosco Isabella, a monumental garden in Radicofani. In case of bad weather, events are moved to the Teatro Costantini.
All events are free to attend with no reservation required. The "Pausa Voucher" is available, offering a 10% discount at participating local establishments.
