The Gates of Time
Legend has it that in Introd, a municipality in the Province of Aosta overlooking the Gran Paradiso valleys, there are invisible gates that allow one to travel through time. They can only be crossed very rarely, on nights without lights and noise, called Les nuits des temps. This is the inspiration behind La Nuit des Temps, a diffused theatre experience where spectators become protagonists.
A Journey Through the Eras
The approximately two-hour route winds through the village streets illuminated by lanterns, passing through four 'gates of time' that lead to the years 1450, 1710, 1890, and 1940. At each stop, acted scenes, traditional music, and local history tales engage all the spectators' senses. Often, descendants of the historical figures themselves play their ancestors, in the very places where they lived. The experience culminates in a final tasting of typical Aosta Valley flavours.
A Community Project
The event is promoted by the cultural association La Nuit des Temps ODV, with the support of the Aosta Valley Region, the regional cultural heritage, and the Municipality of Introd. Historical consultation was provided by historian Ezio Emerico Gerbore, while the period menus are signed by the Hotel Boule de Neige. The meeting point is the Maison Bruil, Introd's ancient rural house in the hamlet of Les Villes-Dessus, now a museum of Alpine civilization.
La Nuit des Temps — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of La Nuit des Temps is spread over two evenings in the village of Introd: the avant-première (preview) on Friday, October 16, 2026, and La Nuit des Temps itself on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The starting point is the Maison Bruil, an ancient rural house in the hamlet of Les Villes-Dessus. Departures are staggered at 7:00 PM, 7:30 PM, 8:00 PM, 8:30 PM, 9:00 PM, 9:30 PM, and 10:00 PM, by mandatory reservation. The approximately two-hour journey passes through the four gates of time (1450, 1710, 1890, 1940) with acted scenes, traditional music, and stories, culminating in a tasting of typical Aosta Valley flavours.

- Meet and guided tour of Maison Bruil, followed by a nocturnal lantern tour through the gates of time (1450, 1710, 1890, 1940)

- Full diffused theatre experience with acted scenes, music, and local history tales

Tips
Wear comfortable clothing and footwear for walking; the route takes place in the evening, and autumn evenings can be cold.
