The official Tour de France granfondo in the Maritime Alps of Entracque
L'Étape Piemonte by Tour de France is the official amateur version of the world's most famous race, organized in partnership with Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) and set in Entracque, a small town in the Province of Cuneo nestled among the peaks of the Maritime Alps in Piedmont. For an entire weekend, the town and the Gesso, Stura, and Vermenagna valleys turn yellow—the iconic color of the Tour—becoming the stage for a grand cycling celebration open to all.
The event offers various participation options, designed for both seasoned competitive cyclists and those who prefer to enjoy the mountains at a more relaxed pace:
The star of the route is the Colle delle Goderie, a previously unknown climb that debuted with this event and which organizers consider one of the event's most significant legacies: a new destination for cycle tourism in the Cuneo valleys.
A rich program of side events revolves around the competition. The L'Étape Village is open all weekend, offering entertainment, food and wine, and local specialties curated by the local Pro Loco associations. There is plenty for children with L'Étape Kid, as well as team presentations, concerts, DJ sets, and social gatherings that transform Entracque into an international meeting point.
L'Étape Piemonte attracts thousands of cyclists from dozens of nations and many Italian provinces, generating a significant tourism and economic boost for the entire Cuneo area. Riding under the Tour de France brand on spectacular alpine roads, welcomed by the warmth of the valley residents, is an experience that blends sport, landscape, and Piedmontese tradition.

Entracque (CN), Piedmont. Start and finish at the L'Étape Village, in the town center, at the gateway to the Maritime Alps Natural Park.
By car: from Cuneo, Entracque can be reached in about 30-40 minutes by driving up the Gesso Valley. By train: arrive at Cuneo station, then continue by bus or car to Entracque.
Registration is available on the official website. Discounted rates are available for early bird sign-ups. The granfondo is open to cyclists aged 19 and up, and the mediofondo to those aged 17 and up.
As these are mountain routes with significant elevation changes, good physical preparation and the use of gears suitable for steep climbs are recommended. Book your accommodation in advance: during the event weekend, lodging in the valley and the province of Cuneo typically sells out.
