The market exhibition of greenery, creativity, and quality products at the Parco del Castello
L'Aquila in Fiore – Market Exhibition and Creativity is one of the most anticipated spring events in the Abruzzo capital. Every year, the lush and evocative Parco del Castello Cinquecentesco, surrounding the monumental Spanish Fort, transforms into a large open-air garden dedicated to floriculture, creative crafts, and quality production. The event is promoted and organized by the Bambini di Ieri e di Oggi APS association, chaired by Cinzia Leopardi, with the patronage of the Municipality of L'Aquila and the support of the Abruzzo Region.
The heart of the event is the market exhibition, which gathers a wide range of exhibitors along the park's paths: nurserymen and floriculturists, artisans, hobbyists, art designers, traditional food producers, herbalists, and specialized publishers. Alongside them, non-profit associations, schools, and local educational institutions showcase their projects and raise public awareness. The flower, chosen as the central theme, becomes a universal symbol of beauty and rebirth—a theme particularly poignant in a city that has made rebirth its defining identity.
L'Aquila in Fiore is not just a market, but a true cultural and social event for all ages. The program includes basic and advanced gardening courses, also designed for children, educational workshops on ecology and environmental sustainability, floral art demonstrations, and meetings on flower therapy and natural wellness. Significant space is dedicated to pollinators, with sessions on entomology, the importance of bees, and the world of honey. Inside the Spanish Fort, an area is dedicated to food and wine experiences, featuring tastings and workshops centered on edible flowers.
Thanks to the setting of the Parco del Castello, one of L'Aquila's main green lungs, and the festive atmosphere that accompanies the entire day, the event has established itself as a staple in the city's calendar, attracting families, gardening enthusiasts, and visitors from across Abruzzo. Admission is free and open to everyone.
