Summer concerts by the Braies brass band

The Konzert der Musikkapelle Prags is a series of evening concerts hosted by the Braies brass band (known in German as Musikkapelle Prags) every summer in the municipality of Braies, located in the Puster Valley, in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. The performances take place in the hamlet of Braies di Dentro (Ferrara di Braies), a small village at the foot of the Dolomites, not far from the famous Lake Braies.

A South Tyrolean brass band tradition

As in almost every village in South Tyrol, the brass band is a cornerstone of community life. The musicians, often dressed in traditional costume (Tracht), carry on a repertoire of marches, polkas, waltzes, folk songs, and pieces from the great German-speaking brass band tradition. These summer open-air concerts are the perfect opportunity to share this heritage with residents and tourists in the informal, festive atmosphere typical of mountain villages.

The 2026 program

Several evenings are scheduled for the summer of 2026. The concert on July 17th will feature the Musikkapelle Vierschach (the brass band of Versciaco) as a guest, marking a meeting between friendly bands from the Upper Puster Valley. Further concerts will follow on Friday, July 31st, Friday, August 7th, and Friday, August 28th, all starting at 8:30 PM and ending around 10:00 PM. The performances take place in Braies di Dentro and admission is free.

More than just evening concerts

The musical season of the Braies band is not limited to summer. In spring, the group traditionally performs the Muttertagskonzert, a concert dedicated to Mother's Day, another staple event deeply cherished by the community. On some summer evenings, the brass music is accompanied by Tanzlmusik (traditional dance music) performed by local groups, making for a complete village festival experience.
