The pink solidarity walk in the heart of Valle Vigezzo
In the small town of Druogno, nestled in the picturesque Valle Vigezzo in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (Piedmont), Just The Woman I Am... On The Road! has become a highly anticipated early spring event. It is a non-competitive walk-run of approximately 5 kilometers, open to everyone, which combines outdoor physical activity with a noble cause: supporting scientific cancer research.
The initiative was born as a local extension of the major Just The Woman I Am event, the pink run held annually in Turin since 2014, organized by CUS Torino together with the Polytechnic and the University of Turin. It has raised funds for research, prevention, the promotion of healthy lifestyles, inclusion, and gender equality. The "On The Road" project extends this philosophy to local areas, creating a network of JTWIA-accredited routes accessible throughout the year. Druogno participates with its own dedicated itinerary, which can be walked even outside the day of the event.
The trail winds along a historic cycle and pedestrian path connecting Mulino di Sasseglio to Coimo: the same path that women once walked to carry rye from the mill to the famous Forno di Coimo, where the renowned Pane Nero di Coimo is still produced today. The walk thus becomes an opportunity to rediscover the memory and role of the women of the valley, in perfect harmony with the spirit of the event.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Druogno in collaboration with Sfera Società Cooperativa and the Vigezzo Ti Aiuta Association, with the patronage of the Province of VCO, FIDAL VCO, and CSI Verbania. Refreshment points are set up along the route, and bar and catering services are available at the finish line: the proceeds from these activities, net of expenses, are also donated to the cause. A model of a widespread festival that involves volunteers, Valle Vigezzo administrators, and numerous families.
L'edizione 2026 di Just The Woman I Am...
