The international festival of television series between Rimini and Riccione
The Italian Global Series Festival is the event that, in the heart of summer, transforms the Romagna Riviera into the Italian capital of television series. Organized by APA - Audiovisual Producers Association in collaboration with Cinecittà, the festival takes place in the Municipalities of Rimini and Riccione, in Emilia-Romagna, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region, APT Servizi, and AGIS. Born in 2025, it inherits the legacy of a long Rimini tradition linked to visual storytelling and relaunches it on a global scale.
The heart of the festival is the International Competition, which features productions from around the world divided into three categories: Drama, Comedy, and Limited Series. The selected series compete for the Maximo Awards, accolades that reward the best Italian and international works. Alongside the competition, the festival offers world and European premieres, presentations of new titles of the season, and audience encounters.
Screenings and events are held in the most evocative locations of the Riviera: in Rimini, the Cinema Fulgor (Federico Fellini's childhood cinema), the Teatro Galli, the Teatro degli Atti, and the Corte degli Agostiniani; in Riccione, the PalaRiccione and the Arena di Piazzale Ceccarini. Admission to events is free, with accreditation required for screenings with limited seating, in an atmosphere that combines the glamour of stars with the seaside liveliness of the Romagna summer.
Each edition attracts Italian and international actors, directors, and authors, with red carpets, masterclasses, and tributes to great productions of the past and present. The festival also dedicates space to celebrating iconic anniversaries in television history and awards the most influential personalities in the sector with the Maximo Excellence Award.
In addition to its cultural dimension, the Italian Global Series Festival represents an important opportunity for tourism promotion and economic growth for the entire Emilia-Romagna region, attracting audiovisual professionals, journalists, and enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad, during a period of high tourist influx on the Riviera.
The second edition of the Italian Global Series Festival will be held from July 3rd to 11th, 2026: in Rimini from July 3rd to 6th (Cinema Fulgor, Teatro Galli, Teatro degli Atti, Corte degli Agostiniani) and in Riccione from July 7th to 10th (PalaRiccione and Arena di Piazzale Ceccarini), with the closing ceremony in Rimini on Saturday, July 11th. The festival is directed by Marco Spagnoli.
The International Competition received over 160 series from 34 countries, with a final selection of 21 titles from 15 nations competing in the Drama, Comedy, and Limited Series categories. Among the special celebrations: the 60th anniversary of Star Trek with Jeri Ryan and Nicholas Meyer, the 30th anniversary of Un posto al sole, and a tribute to Robert Powell on the 50th anniversary of "Jesus of Nazareth".
On July 11th in Rimini, directed by Duccio Forzano, hosted by Sergio Friscia, with Matilde Gioli as festival godmother.
