The grand gathering of vintage and classic Italian cars along the Viareggio seafront
The Italian Classic Parade is the new major rally dedicated to vintage and classic Italian cars, transforming the famous Viareggio seafront, in the heart of Versilia, into an open-air gallery of collector vehicles. Organized by the Rione Vecchia Viareggio in collaboration with the Municipality of Viareggio, the Carnevale Foundation, the Rione Croce Verde Centro, and the Registro Fiat Italiano, the event combines the charm of historic four-wheelers with the unique atmosphere of the Carnival city in the province of Lucca, Tuscany.
For its first edition, the rally brought together approximately 500 vintage cars, arranged along the seafront by model and manufacturer. The absolute stars were the Abarth and the many Fiat models from national registries, joined by Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and Ferrari, not to mention a few foreign rarities: among the most admired pieces were a very rare 1944 Citroën that arrived from France and an imposing three-axle Fiat truck from the 1960s. Italian vehicles of historical and collector interest built by 2005 are admitted, along with some foreign Instant Classics, Veterans, and Vintage cars of particular interest.
The starting point is the evocative Cittadella del Carnevale, where crews meet for registration and the distribution of identification numbers, with the option of a guided tour of the Carnival Museum. From here, the vehicles head in a procession to the seafront, traveling along Viale Einaudi toward the sea, before positioning themselves around Piazza Mazzini, where they remain on display throughout the day. In the afternoon, the awards ceremony takes place, recognizing the most deserving crews.
The Italian Classic Parade is not just a show: the event also has a charitable vocation, and in its first edition, it raised 1,750 euros for charity. A combination of automotive passion and solidarity that fits perfectly into the spirit of the Viareggio community.
Launched in 2026, the event aims to become a permanent fixture on the Versilia calendar: the organizers have already announced their intention to repeat the event in the coming years, with the goal of reaching up to one thousand crews. For Viareggio, the symbolic city of Carnival and capital of Versilia, the Italian Classic Parade represents a new opportunity to attract enthusiasts and visitors to its seafront even out of season.
