The ISTA - International Traditional Archery Fair is the premier event in Italy for lovers of traditional archery. It takes place in Gattico-Veruno, a municipality in the Province of Novara, Piedmont, at the L'Altana del Motto Rosso Archery Center, in the Motto Rosso area. Established in 2013, it has grown into a fixed European appointment, attracting enthusiasts, bowyers, and curious visitors from all over Italy and abroad.

A world of bows, blades, and craftsmanship

The heart of the fair is the exhibition market: numerous European exhibitors showcase historical bows, archery equipment, quivers, armguards, and leather accessories, alongside custom cutlery and blades—a dedicated section that has complemented the archery portion for several editions. It is a unique opportunity to speak directly with master craftsmen, discover manufacturing techniques, and witness the forging of blades, arrowheads, and knives.

ISTA is more than just an exhibition: the practice range allows you to test bows directly with those who build them, while the day is enriched with educational sessions, historical re-enactment demonstrations, and falconry shows. There is also no shortage of activities related to bushcraft, survival, and dog training, making the event suitable for the whole family. Exhibitors and partners include organizations such as AICA - Association of Bow Hunters, the FIARC Federation, and CSEN.

With free admission, ISTA welcomes both expert archers and those approaching this ancient discipline for the first time. The natural setting of Motto Rosso, nestled in the hills of Novara just a stone's throw from Lake Maggiore, adds charm to this two-day event that blends sport, tradition, and craftsmanship. For the Novara Province and all of Piedmont, it has become a small, classic late-spring tradition.
