A festival off the coast of Sicily
Isola di Culture is a festival held between late August and early September that brings the Municipal Theatre of Ustica to life. Located in the Municipality of Ustica, a small volcanic island off the coast of Palermo, Sicily, the event was established in 2025. It weaves together civic theatre, folk tradition, and music into a short but intense programme designed to engage both residents and visitors as the island's summer season draws to a close.

The heart of the festival lies in theatrical storytelling that explores Sicily's recent history: performances that evoke stories of the mafia, figures of civic commitment, and voices of non-violent resistance. Accessible by ferry or hydrofoil from Palermo, Ustica is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and for being home to Italy's first Marine Protected Area. How to get there
Ustica can be reached from Palermo via maritime connections (ferries and hydrofoils) departing from the city's port. Once on the island, distances are short, and the Municipal Theatre is easily accessible on foot from the town centre.
Admission
Admission to the performances is free. It is recommended to arrive early, given the intimate size of the theatre.
