The ION CUP in Viola St. Gree

The ION CUP is a downhill mountain bike race circuit organized by Deep Bike, which visits some of the most renowned bike parks in the Western Alps every summer. The Viola St. Gree stage, in the municipality of Viola, in the province of Cuneo, is one of the most anticipated events on the calendar and takes place on the local bike park trails, in the heart of the Piedmontese Monregalese.

The trails of the Viola St. Gree Bike Park

The Viola St. Gree Bike Park is one of the most beloved destinations for downhill enthusiasts in Piedmont. Served by a chairlift that takes riders and their bikes to the start of the tracks, the park offers several trails of varying difficulty, including the "Ottovolante" flow trail, the free ride line, the "D.H. Black Line," and the "Freccia Rossa" track. These very trails host the ION CUP race heats, with sections dedicated to different categories.

An event for all ages

The ION CUP stands out for its inclusive spirit: as it is not organized or sponsored by official sports promotion bodies, it is open to both licensed and non-licensed riders and welcomes Enduro, Downhill, and E-bikes. The event is divided into three distinct races:

• Baby ION CUP (Saturday): reserved for the youngest riders;
• Junior ION CUP (Saturday): dedicated to teenagers;
• ION CUP (Sunday): the main race for adults.

The atmosphere of the Cuneo stage

Beyond the competition, the Viola St. Gree stage is a celebration for the entire mountain biking community. Between heats, there is no shortage of food services, a raffle, and end-of-day award ceremonies. The natural setting of the Monregalese woods, in the mountains of the province of Cuneo in Piedmont, provides the backdrop for a day of sport, adrenaline, and friendship, in a context made even more special by the recent reopening of the bike park for the 2026 season.
